"Hey, hows your dad?" I whispered, as Kay come through the front door at 3 in the morning.

"Yeah he's gonna be fine. Staying a few days in hospital, mum went home with Mickey."

I sighed & he sat on the couch in the dark beside me.

Lottie was asleep on my thighs and we both looked down at her.

"I don't know what I would've done if she was hurt." He mumbled, holding her finger.

"Makes you think how quickly life can be taken from you hey."

He nodded & laid down on the couch.

I heard a sniffle come from him & looked down at him.

His eyes were glassy and he had tears dripping down his face.

"Oh Kalyn, baby it's okay." I mumbled, rubbing his hair back.

"What if she died B? I couldn't deal with that."

"Hey, don't talk like that. Look at her, she's perfect."

He wiped his face and I kissed his forehead.

"I think someone just needs big cuddles from their baby koala to make them feel better." I whispered, laying Lottie beside him as he wrapped his arm over her.

He kissed her forehead & closed his eyes.

"Cuddles make everything better, you're always gonna be her protector, her first love & her best friend baby, there's nowhere safer for her than in your arms."

"I love you." He whispered, squeezing my hand as I sat beside them, watching them both go to sleep.

"I love you more than anything, sweet dreams."

- The next morning -

"How's she doing?" Aria asked, rubbing a sleeping Lottie's face.

"She's okay, a little tired but other than that good. How was the festival?"

"Well after we realised what had happened we all went back to Jack's and waited for an update."

"Sorry I didn't text."

"Are you kidding? That would've been the last thing on your mind, don't stress. We were just all too nervous to go home."

I smiled, we really do have the best friends.

I hugged her & Kalyn walked down from our bedroom.

"Hey Aria, how are you?" He mumbled, as she pulled him in for a hug.

He hugged her back and sighed, closing his eyes.

My poor darling.

"How are you doing?"

"Been better honestly."

"Yeah I bet."

He looked at me and I smiled, kissing him.
"I'll make you breakfast?"

"Please, that sounds perfect."
