Chapter 31

Laila POV (Picture)

"You ain't even gonna wake me up?" I turned to Josh's bed and smiled faintly. "You looked so peaceful as you slept." I told him. "Yeah, cause you laid it down for ya boy last night." He says and I giggled. "Well I gotta go."

"What's the rush?" He asked getting out the bed. "No rush." I shrugged. "Lai you okay?" He asks with a concerned look. "Yeah." I lied right out of me teeth.

"You sure? It's 7:22 Sunday morning. When are you ever up this early?" He asked walking towards me. "I-I just have to go." I stuttered a little. "Go where." He folded his arms. "I can't tell you." I whispered. Feeling a tear run down, I quickly wiped it away.

"Laila what's wrong with you?" Before he was able to touch me, I backed away and grabbed my things. "I need to leave. I'll talk to you later." In a hurry I put on my shoes, grabbed my phone and flew out of his house.
"He's going to kill me." I thought to myself. Just as I thought, I got a phone call.

"Hello?" I answered.
"Where the hell are you?!?" He yelled.

Melinda POV

"RJ, hold your sister's hand and come on." I was getting out of the car, going to my parents' home for some get together. My parents and children never met, so I decided that today would be a good day for them to meet. "Okay." He answers in his small voice.

I rung the doorbell and waited for someone to answer which felt like forever since I was carrying in one arm Jacob, my 2 year old, because he's asleep and waking him up would be a pain and then I carried Yani while she's in her car seat along with her baby bag on my shoulder.

"Hello." I sighed in relief when the door opened. "Hey. Go in." I said to RJ and Raven. "Here let me help. Which one's heavier?" Richard asked me. "He is." He grabbed Jacob and took Yani's bag and I thanked him. "You're welcome." He flashed me a smile and then went upstairs to lay Jacob down.

"Melinda, y'all made it." My mother came towards us and both RJ and Raven hid behind my legs. "Hey, I'm not gonna hurt you. You guys know who I am?" She asked an they shook their heads no. "I'm your grandma."

"Why are you back here alone?" I asked Richard who was in the backyard. Dinner went well, everyone's in the family room talking and laughing and Richard was out in the backyard. "I was on the phone a few minutes ago, just didn't go back in. That's all." He says. "Wanna sit?" I shrugged and sat down next to him.

"If you don't mind me asking, why are you divorcing your husband?" He asks. "Because I should've never married him in the first place." I answered. "You see, when I got kicked out-" Wait you were kicked out why?" He cut me out. "That's another story." I waved it off.

"Anyways, after getting kicked out, I met him and I thought I loved him. I didn't have anything and I got pregnant so I thought we're in love so we should get married. The dumbest thing about it is that he warned me. He said that he was going to cheat but I was too dumb and naive and thought that I could change him. But just like how you can't turn a hoe into a housewife, you can make a man whore be loyal." I shrugged with a sigh.

"I don't understand who would want to cheat on you. You're beautiful and the way you take care of your kids with all this weight on you is amazing." I could help but smile. "Thanks." "I'm just saying." He shrugs.

Harvey POV

"Why we here?" I asked as we sat in the booth. "I can't want to have a dinner date with my brother?" She says. "Why won't you and your boyfriend go out on a dinner date?" I asked sarcastically.

"Listen, whatever you two have against each other needs to get squashed. I'm sick and tired of you two. Y'all 29 and 26 years old. Stop acting like fucking middle schoolers. Whether you like it or not, I am happy with Caution so I am going to stay with him. Your little attitude ain't gonna changed shit about the two of us. It's not gonna change his occupation. It's not gonna change the way we feel about each other. So I just wished that you had my back. All those chicken heads you've dated and I ain't say a word because you so called liked them. I was happy because you were happy. Why can you be happy when I'm happy Harv? How come I didn't earn that from you?" I was shocked that my little sister just snapped on my ass.

"Heaven-" she cut me off. "Don't worry about it. I'm not in the mood for this anymore. I'll grab something to eat on my way home." She got up from the table and left my ass.

"You're home early." Jay says. It looked as if she was coming from Heather's room as I walked through the door. "She cancelled well more like walked out." I shook my head and threw my keys on the table by the door. "What happened?" She asks. I sat down on the couch and she sat next to me.
"I may have implied something about her boyfriend as she snapped on me and then left the restaurant." I told her. She shook her head and got up from the couch. "What?" I asked.

"Baby, you're going to have to let Heaven be happy. No matter how his and your relationship is, you need to see that she is happy with him. I've seen then together plenty of times, and every time I do see them, he has her smiling and laughing. Before him, I can't honestly say there have been a guy to make her happy in years. So let her be happy with him. Put aside the bull you have with him and be a supportive brother. If you don't think they would last or you think he's going to hurt her, just be ready to catch her." I listened to everything that just came out of Ajay's mouth but just nodded my head in response.

Emily POV

"Are you okay?" I asked Heaven when she walked in. I had heard that Caution got arrested yesterday. I felt bad for Heaven because I know try had a wonderful night Saturday, remembering the three of us -me, her, and Laila- hanging out Saturday day after they had came from the mall. They were sharing their plans for the night and helped come up plans for myself.

"Yeah, I'm fine. Why wouldn't I be?" She questions giving me a side hug then carried on to her office. I sighed and went to sit behind my desk. Something was up with her although she said she was fine. She looks off and somewhat different.

"You can go on your lunch break." Heaven tells be when she walked past my desk. "Okay." I said then got my purse out my bottom file draw.

"Heav you ready?" I looked up and saw her sister-in-law and mentally rolled my eyes. No me and her haven't bumped heads, I just don't get good vibes when she's around. "Um yeah. Call me if you need me." She tells me before walking away.
