Chapter 1-

I place my small bucket upside down on the pavement of the park, right in front of the fountain. Then I take my purple SnapBack off my head and place it on the ground in front of it. I step up onto the bucket and clear my throat before beginning.

"I can't win, I can't reign

I will never win this game

Without you, without you" I sing,

"I can't win, I can't reign

I will never win this game

Without you, without you

I am lost, I am vain,

I will never be the same

Without you, without you" People turn to look, but none stop. I had to grab their attention. Somehow. My brown hair with blonde highlights and brown eyes didn't stand out much, and I wasn't the prettiest person in the world. My plaid blue and dark blue shirt and old jeans blended in. There was nothing that made people look at me unless they smelt something repulsive, that being me. I hadn't taken a shower in 2 weeks. Not that I could help it. I slept wherever there was room and traveled every day aimlessly. You might be wondering where my parents were? Why they didn't watch me? Why I wasn't with them? I don't know much about them. Only that they didn't care. They got rid of me almost exactly after I was born. When I was only 2 weeks old to be specific. They gave me to a random couple named Josephine and Mark. They took care of me for 7 years, until I couldn't take it anymore. They abused me. More than I could take. From the first time I cried in their home to the last beating they gave me. The last beating they gave me was for singing. I had a beautiful voice. Everyone tells me. My old teachers, random people who hear me, my old neighbors. It was angelic and I was always compared to Liam Payne, as a girl version of his voice, i found it ironic since we share the same last name. They beat me with a belt. I remember his voice so clearly from that night. As he grabbed his leather belt and threw me over his knee and hit me with all his might he screamed,

"You are nothing Aileen! You are a horrible brat! You will amount to nothing! No wonder your parents didn't want you!" The tears had flown down my cheeks in pain from his words and the belt. After many might whips he had taken a knife and carved the word 'Nothing' into my inner arm. The blood kept flowing out of my arm and had left a permanent scar. That was the night I had decided to leave. I climbed out the window of the second story and fell in the rosebush leaving me scratched more before I ran crying silently and went as far as my legs could carry me until I collapsed in an alley a couple towns over. I remember how painful it felt, just running. It felt as if he was there himself hitting me again and again. Never stopping.

"I won't run, I won't fly

I will never make it by

Without you, without you

I can't rest, I can't fight

All I need is you and I,

Without you, without you." The next words come out with so much pain and emotion from the memory. Tears threaten to spill from my eyes but I manage to keep my voice steady and continue.

"Oh oh oh! You! You! You! Without... You! You! You! Without... you." I sing captivating the attention of many people around me. They stare curiously at me. I don't mind, everyone does.
