Tangled Strings (sequel to Red Strings)

Chapter 33

"Hey, would you mind helping Michael with the cake Sylvana seems to be having a streamer crisis." I ask Niall, he nods jogging happily outside "Michael you wanker, long time no see!" I hear him yell. I climb the stairs and grab one packet from Sylvana.

"I just spent the last hour and a half talking to Niall Horan from One Direction, what is my life?" she tells me in a whispered but excited voice. I laugh at her unravelling the roll of streamers. "Our lives are pretty weird" I agree. "We're back!" Calum calls pushing the door open. "And we brought someone!" Natalie adds dropping a suitcase by the front door.

About an hour later everything is set up for the party and guests are beginning to arrive.  There's only a few I recognize but Niall seems absolutely smitten to see every single one of them, hugging them and pressing kisses into there cheeks. 

Harry Styles and Louis Tomlinson arrive and Liam Payne arrives with his date Danielle a little after them. The DJ is already set up and playing music in the backyard next to the cotton candy machine Michael had persuaded me into ordering. Vana had set up twinkly lights all over the back yard as well as some tables and chairs for guests to sit at. The whole place looked incredible, I had never seen it so alive. 

When I feel my phone vibrate I don't even need to check it. "Alright everyone he's coming!" I yell, the DJ cuts the music and I run around shutting the main lights off, everything is silent.  I pull out my vlogging camera and run back into the foyer. I see Luke's shadow through a crack in the blinds and gulp, I hear the slow turning of their keys in the lock.  "Why are the lights off?" I hear Luke's familiar voice call.  I grin as I see the outline of his hand reach for the light switch when he flicks it on he's greeted by over 50 smiling faces.

"Suprise!" we all shout before applause irrupts. "Yay!" I say running up to him and giving him a hug. His face is priceless and I know we made the right decision with this party. "Oh my god!" he says looking at Ashton. "Oh my god I had no idea!" "That's why they call it a surprise party mate!" Niall interjects coming out of nowhere and pulling Luke in for a bro hug. "Niall!" Luke almost sings hugging him back. "Happy late birthday!" I smirk pointing the camera at him, a look of shock is still plastered on his face. "Happy birthday, you make me feel so old!" Mali-Koa chimes in "Oh. My. God. Mali-Koa!" he gasps hugging her she chuckles. "Surprise?" I set my camera back down and motion for the DJ to start the music back up he shoots me a thumbs up and before I know it dub step is blearing through the house. 

"Let's party!" Ashton shouts raising a red solo cup.  Everyone cheers before dispersing throughout the house. "Luke come on, I've got a drink that's calling your name!" Niall urges. Luke give me a look and I roll my eyes. "Go!" I urge him Luke grins and gives me a peck on the cheek before disappearing with Niall. 

I bite my lip looking in the direction he just left when I feel someone grab my hand. "Let's dance!" Natalie shouts over the music, I laugh throwing my head back in agreement as she leads my outside. Nat holds my hands and we twist jumping to the beat of a song I've never heard, Sylvana comes and joins us and we hoot and holler for her as she jumps around. Tonight was going to be amazing. 

It's about an hour and a half into the party and I am more then a little tipsy, Sylvana seems to hold her liquor well but Natalie is all over the place and I'm sure if I wasn't drunk I would totally help her out. I spot Luke standing in the middle of the backyard with Cal and I guy I don't recognize and make my way towards him arms out. 

"Babe!" I shout bumping into his ridiculously flat chest. "Are you having a perfect birthday?" I question interlocking my fingers behind his neck "I am now" he replies grinning so wide his one dimple prominent, I groan poking my index finger into it. "How are you so fucking perfect?" I ask him touching his face. Luke just laughs running his fingers through his hair "do you want to dance?" he asks me, and I nod excitedly.
