CHAPTER 12: Silence

*bang*

The Overseer's one eye widens from shock.

Warm blood splashes onto her cheek.

Sin's large arms were wrapped around her protectively. She could feel his shallow breathing fan the crook of her neck.

It was as if everything was happening in slow motion.

Sana couldn't support his body with her fragile mortal strength, thus falling to her knees.

*thud*

Sin's head laid on her lap. Scarlet was pooling around them.

She could see his brown eyes glass over, losing its clarity and yet his gaze never left her.

With a shaky hand he tenderly holds her cheek. A sweet innocent smile still adorned his face.

Sana suddenly screams such a high pitched scream, that she didn't even realise the voice belonged to her.

This was all her fault.

She had let her guard down!!

That bullet was meant for her!

So why did this fool jump in front of her?

WHY!?

She hurries to put pressure on the bleeding. He was hit in the chest.

Suddenly Valarie appears from the startled crowd. She races to kneel besides them, panic was evident in her eyes.

"This..."Her lips tremble from fear. "This wasn't supposed to happen to him!"

Sana suddenly froze at her words.

The crowd was too loud for anyone to hear the girl's mumbles. However Sana was the Overseer.

Her senses were keener than most.

She stiffly turns to face her.

What did she just say?

The bullet wasn't supposed to hit him?

It was supposed to hit her, wasn't it?

Valarie liked Sin so much, she probably wanted to free him from Sana's clutches, so she resorted to this.

The Overseer was disappointed. Beyond disappointed.

This time, none of this was her fault.

This time, for some strange reason the fl became tainted.

She was corrupted, not the woman she used to love watching over.

The Overseer felt her heart go cold.

She was stone faced.
