"OH MY GOD KAYLEIGH" my cousin yells over the phone

I can hear her crying and I'm worried

"What's wrong!"

"GRANDMA AND GRANDPA THEY-THEY DIED"

"WHAT!"

"They got into a car accident. They died on the spot"

"Oh my god no. This can not be true"

"I'm sorry but it is. You need to come here to Florida for the funeral please we all need you"

"O-okay I'll get a ticket now."

I hang up and put my head in my hands starting to sob

I can't believe this the people who have taken the best care of me have died. My best friends, my parent figures, my role models have died.

I am heartbroken

"Hey ba- Kayleigh whats wrong" I hear Daniel say

I pick my head up and grab him

"M-my grandparents died."

"Oh my god. I am so sorry" I sob into his shoulder and he rubs my back

"They're gone Dani"

"Shh it's okay"

"No I'll never see them again" I pull away and wipe my eyes

"Hey look at me" I look up and meet his beautiful blue eyes

"Y-you're pretty"

He softly laughs and picks me up bringing me up to our room

He lays me in the bed and sits next to me

"C-Can you go with me to Florida for the funeral?" I ask

He nods and kisses my cheek

"Everything's going to be okay"

"B-But our child will never know anyone from my family"

"it will know you and it will know all the stories"

"I-I guess"

"Hey I know you feel really upset and probably heartbroken right now but I promise you, you won't feel like this for long"

"They were the only people I had left"

"You have me and Rae and all of my family and we aren't going anywhere"

"They may be physically gone but now they'll always be everywhere with you in spirit and that's a promise"
