We just finished eating and I brought Kayleigh back to our house. Well Rae demanded it

"CAN KAYLEIGH COME OVER" she screamed once we got in the car

"Rae, I'm sure Kayleigh is very tired she's been awake all day"

"I'll come over. I don't mind I'm only planning on going to the diner for lunch tomorrow"

"YAY SHE CAN PUT ME TO BED"

"Rae you're asking to-"

"She's had a long day I think she deserves to be put to bed by who she wants"

"I guess"

"Is that a yes" Rae asks

I look over to Kayleigh and nod

"It's a yes" Kayleigh says smiling at Rae

"She's fast asleep" she says coming out of Rae's room

"Thank you so much for everything, you've done way too much"

"Don't worry about it I love helping with kids it's my favorite thing"

"So what exactly happened"

"well I saw her running past my apartment and I've never ran faster out of there before. I quickly caught up and grabbed her hand and we talked. Um she told me about your ex-wife I'm sorry"

"Yeah it's a mess um Jonah may have told me about your ex"

"Oh" she very sadly says

"I didn't mean to bring it up"

"It's fine. It made me a better person"

"I can't believe that happened to you."

"I can't either I knew he was psycho but not that psycho" a tear rolls down her cheek but I wipe it away with my thumb

We look at each other for what seems like forever and I realize that we are both leaning in

I close my eyes and i kiss her

"I-I'm sorry I shouldn't have done that" I quietly apologize

"It's okay I liked it"

"I did too"

"I know we just met but I feel something... this spark"

"I feel the same way"

We kiss again and it was even better than the first

"I probably should go home. You have to wake up early with Rae I suppose"

"You can always stay... I mean you said you didn't have to go to the diner till lunch"

"Are you sure? I don't want to be in the way"

"You won't be in the way. So please will you stay"

"Yeah I'll stay"

"Good" we smile and I walk her up to my room

We lay in bed and her eyes immediately close

I move close to her and play with a strand of her hair

She opens her eyes and smiles

"Sorry"

"Shh don't be"

She kisses me one last time and we fall asleep

Before we fall asleep she gets close and puts her head on my shoulder.

"Sweet dreams Kayleigh"

I kiss her forehead and let sleep overcome me
