Chapter 26

If I were you I'd put that away

See, you're just wasted

And thinking 'bout the past again

Darling, you'll be okay

And she said,

I take a deep breath before singing my heart out.

If you were me, you'd do the same

'Cause I can't take anymore

I'll draw the shades and close the door

Everything's not alright and I would rather...

Vic smiles and sings a bit, before I join in.  

And as the sun went down we ended up on the ground

I heard the train shake the windows

You screamed over the sound

And as we own this night

I put your body to the test with mine

This love was out of control

Tell me where did it go?

Vic gives one last strum, and I wait for the ok, before Ashton comes on and says "That was literally PERFECT."  Vic smiles as he takes off the headphones and I do the same.  "Well I'll get that recording picked up later next week.  Maybe I can catch you then?" he asks and I say "Well I don't even live here, but hopefully that recording is as good as Ashton says it is."

Vic nods and says "Well it was nice meeting you....and I never got to compliment you on your shirt.  Definitely good music taste."  I look down and remember that I'm wearing my PTV tank.  "Yeah, my room mate helped me out in that.  I have so many different shirts I didn't know what to wear!" I said and I looked up and quickly added "I honestly didn't even know you were coming so....." "Well at least you liked this surprise.  But still- great cover.  You're really talented." he said and I blush a little.

"Did you ever think of maybe trying to get a deal while you're out here?  You're in LA after all." Vic mentions and I shake my head.  "I came up here for school actually.  Going to USC this fall, even though I'm not studying music." I said as Vic nodded and said "Well consider the singing.  Never let talent go to waste." 

With that advice he left and I sat down in the chair and Luke then said "Alright now moving on!" "Why would you guys want a female voice on one of your songs?" I ask leaning back in the chair stretching a bit.  "Well we can decide if the song needs a female voice, and second of all- for fun!" Ashton said spinning around in his chair.  

I laughed and said "Alright so what am I even doing?" "Here's the song!" Ashton said passing it over to me.  "The Only Reason." I read aloud and the two look on nervously and I nod and say "It sounds pretty good."  Luke sighs in relief and says "We did a recording but....um...." "Did it not turn out well?" I ask.

Luke swallows and says "Nat, it's Calum's demo.  He's singing it."  I freeze but then say "It's alright.  I'll listen to it." "Nat you don't have to if-" "It sounds like a really good song though.  And it doesn't matter who sings it, because you're all ridiculously talented." I say to Luke.  Ashton nods before pressing the play button.  

Calum's voice fills the room, and I can hear every single raspy part, I can almost see him right in front of me in the studio singing it.  I can hear the cracks in his voice.  I can imagine it all so clearly.
