Dinah's POV
*a week later*

I've tried everything. Absolutely everything I knew from the top of my head and what I've read online. Nothing works. Lauren wasn't an easy person to get through with.

But am I surprised? Of course not she's Mike's child. It's obvious she would be psychotic too. Therapy doesn't work, medication doesn't work, anything physically doesn't work. It made my life harder than it already was.

Camila hasn't spoken one word to me since I brought her to see Lauren. She told me she hated me. Now it's not the first time she's told me that, but that's when she was afraid of what was happening to her. This time it was genuine and filled with rage. Can she blame me though? I'm only trying to protect her from this monster that I now have to deal with.

I would pop into Camila's room, just like how it has always been, and try to make conversation with her. I get nothing. I bring gifts to her and no thanks from her. The only thing she seemed truly interested in was updates on Lauren. She would listen what I had to say, but never say anything back.

Not only did I have to deal with Lauren and Camila, but also my cancer. It was only growing, very dangerously. One moment I'm a stage one now I'm a stage three. Which meant that I had to go in for chemotherapy. I always hated the idea of chemotherapy I mean it helps, but the fact that it is also slowly killing my organs is horrible. It was all too stressful.

On the bright side something absolutely surprising had happened in the past week. Mike has been released from the institution. Holy hell it's about time!

The first months with that man has been a fucking rollercoaster. He was beyond the scale of madness. He was the most difficult man I have ever encountered and have had to dealt with. Then as time went on he actually started showing signs of progress. Sure he had set backs, but he was finally accepting the help.

Now he seems to have his old spirit back which is great. However, he's not exactly a full free man. Mike now has to spend his sentence in jail for abuse of a child and attempted sexual assault. I'm not exactly sure how long his sentence is, but he'll be there for awhile. His paperwork is still processing so as soon as they are filled out then he'll be attending all the court and law shit.

Before Mike was discharged from the institution we had a little meeting together. I could tell he changed cause he actually smiled and was very talkative. He kept asking about Lauren nervously and how she has been doing over the months he's been away. I told him everything from meeting Camila to now experiencing his own fate.

Mike was actually quite happy that Lauren found Camila and took in a liking for her. Obviously he was quite surprised that Lauren took an interest on girls and she didn't date Ty. When I told him about how Lauren attempted suicide and was raped he was very displeased. He couldn't believe that Lauren was so close to just leaving this world, then having to experience something he knew she wanted to avoid at all times. Mike asked if Lauren ever got pregnant and all honesty I still don't know. Lauren doesn't let anyone get near her.

Mike couldn't help, but feel guilty. He knew it was his fault that she was even here in the first place. If he would've only kept his shit together Lauren wouldn't be suffering.

Mike requested to see Lauren in a private room just like she did for him. I was kinda unsure if that was a good idea or not. I mean yes Mike is Lauren's father, but I don't think Lauren would be very happy to see Mike.

He begged and me being too tired to argue I agreed and had security move Lauren to a room. Chained.

"She's in there. Whenever you're ready Mr. Jauregui.", I told Mike.

He nodded, thanked me, and disappeared into the room.

Mike's POV

Oh my god...

Lauren?

No...

I was lost for words as I laid my eyes on my daughter. She looked horrible. I could see the all too obvious scars of my actions engraved into her skin like a tattoo. She looked so helpless and her eyes screamed in utter pain. This wasn't my daughter. This was a demon that I bestowed in her.

Lauren was on her knees facing the wall under a spotlight. Her wrist were chained to wall. I hated this.

"Lauren?", I called quietly.

She flinched and held her body tighter. She started to shake.

"P-please... n-no m-m-more.", I heard her quiet voice.

"No mija I'm not here to hurt you. Not no more.", I reassured her.

She turned to look at me and horror, anger, and confusion was written on her face. She scooted her back towards to the wall and held her hands up defensively the best could. Tears filled her eyes.

"D-don't hurt me.", she cried.

I stepped closer to her. Only making her flinch.

"No my princess I'm not here to hurt you I promise. I just wanted to see my daughter.", I said.

Her fear was replaced with hatred, she was quick to her feet and charged at me. Only to stopped by the chains on her wrist.

"WHAT DAUGHTER?! I DON'T SEE NO DAUGHTER AROUND HERE! I'M NOTHING BUT YOU'RE FUCKING TOY AND APPARENTLY AN EXCUSE FOR A LIFEFORM!", Lauren yelled angrily.

God she was just like me...

"Lauren please. I know what I've done was absolutely unacceptable. I understand that now. I'm better I assure you that. Of course I must leave again so I can proceed with my rightful punishment, but I had to see you. I just had to.", I said solemnly.

"WHY SO YOU CAN JUST HURT ME AGAIN?! MAYBE EVEN RAPE ME?!", Lauren shouted in a booming voice.

I shook my head "No mija I'm not here to do any of that to you. I just wanted to see what you have become because of me. Lauren this isn't where you belong and I know you know you that. The real you knows that."

"GOD WHY DOES EVERYONE SAY THAT?! I'M THE SAME FUCKING PERSON!", Lauren declared.

"No Lauren this isn't you. The Lauren I raised was insightful, adventurous, caring, and friendly to all. All I see now is a broken down soul.", I said.

Lauren stared at me angrily, but I could she wanted to let down her defenses.

"You haven't been there. You don't know who I am anymore. You never cared so just why should you now?", Lauren scoffed and went back to sit down. Her back facing me.

I sighed and left the room without another word. Her walls she's built around herself were much too strong for me to break.

Dinah was in the hall having a discussion with a nurse. She saw me exit and sent the nurse on his way. She walked up to me and called back security.

"So how did it go?", Dinah asked.

"Definitely not what I expected.", I sighed defeated.

"She's different now and I have no way to get to her. To bring back out the old her.", Dinah said.

"You should let Camila see her.", I said.

"What? Are you kidding? There's no way I'm letting Camila be in a room with Lauren.", Dinah said hastily.

"Look I get that Lauren isn't in her best state of mind, but at this point what harm could it do? You seem to have run out of ideas. Just give Camila a chance. Have Lauren chained up like now and Camila can be in the room just talking to her.", I suggested.

Dinah thought of the idea for awhile. I could tell her guard was holding in.

"I'll have to think about it.", Dinah said.

"Time is ticking Dinah Jane I hope you make the right decision.", I said before walking along with security.
