Dit boek gaf me dingen die ik van een thriller verwacht: actie en spannende spanning.

Als ik een bepaald favoriet personage moet kiezen, zou ik voor Walderan Wellstone kiezen. Hoewel hij pas laat in het boek wordt geïntroduceerd wanneer zijn identiteit aan Colen en John wordt onthuld, is zijn aanwezigheid in elk deel van het boek voelbaar. Hij is de reden voor de mysterieuze gebeurtenissen in Wayrest. Hoewel zijn achtergrondverhaal niet de reden voor zijn zelfmoord onthult, valt er niet veel te raden. Hij lijkt niet goed of slecht te kiezen, maar het verdriet dat leidde tot zijn ondergang bleef steken in Wayrest, op zoek naar zijn volgende slachtoffer. En natuurlijk profiteert Matthew Wayhouse hiervan, hoe onwillig hij ook is.

De typografie bemoeilijkt de leesbaarheid van het verhaal. Begin met een nieuwe alinea met elke beurt van een personage om te spreken.

Marcus is vermist. Dan zou hij het huis niet op slot doen. Toch denkt Colen dat Marcus het zou hebben gedaan. Het is niet erg realistisch.

In hoofdstuk zeven wordt het thema van het witte konijn gekoppeld aan een brede intertekstuele verwijzing naar Alice in Wonderland. Het is prachtig gedaan.

Ik kan niet bevatten hoe hoofdstuk vijftien bijdraagt ​​aan het verhaal, behalve de verlichting van de sombere, gespannen stemming.

De flashback in hoofdstuk negentien bracht me in tranen. Het is heel goed geschreven en geeft de emoties van Colen perfect weer.

This book gave me things I expect from a thriller: action and chilling suspense.

If I have to choose a particular favourite character, I would say Walderan Wellstone. Even though he is introduced very late in the book when his identity is revealed to Colen and John, his presence looms over every part of the book. He is the very reason for the mysterious happenings in Wayrest. Although his backstory doesn't reveal the reason for his suicide, it does not take much to guess. He doesn't seem to side with either good or evil, but the grief that led to his demise lingers in Wayrest, seeking its next victim. And of course, Matthew Wayhouse takes advantage of this, however unwilling he may be.

The typography makes it difficult to read the text. Rather start a new paragraph whenever it's the next character's turn to speak.

Marcus is missing. He wouldn't have locked the house. Yet, Colen thinks Marcus would have. This doesn't seem very realistic.

In chapter seven, the theme of the white rabbit is beautifully linked with a wide intertextual reference to Alice in Wonderland.

I can't fathom how chapter fifteen contributes to the story, except for the lightening of the sombre, tense mood.

The flashback in chapter nineteen brought me to tears. It is written really well and conveys the emotions of Colen perfectly.

This book is the epitome of a thriller, with its graphic descriptions and seat-gripping suspense!
