Tangled Strings (sequel to Red Strings)

Chapter 15

Luke grabbed my waist and starts to do some weird spin thing, I bite my lip attempting to go with it. "Thank god you guys play guitar." Natalie comments watching us, Luke looks at me for approval and I nod furiously. "I have a game!" Ashton announces 

"What?" "Natalie get on my shoulders!" he says bending down "What?" Nat respond confused, Ashton holds her arm up to help her and she shrugs climbing up. 

Ash tells me to do the same thing with Luke and I gasp debating the pros and cons of the situation. Some how I end up on his shoulders.  "Now fight!  First one to fall off loses!" "This is an awful idea!" I complain "Shut up!" Ashton replies. "I wanna play Calum get on my shoulders." Michael says bending down. I groan completely aware of how badly this was going to go. 

We all laugh, the sound of the fire crackling softly "Who wants another marshmallow?" Ashton questions holding up the bag.  "I am literally stuffed." I sigh leaning back into the sand 

"Not me!" Natalie sings motioning for Ashton to throw her it. He complies and marshmallows seem to fly everywhere.  "What a waste of marshmallows." I sigh sitting back up and cuddling into Luke's side. 

"It's ok, I'm sure there's a marshmallow heaven." "Marshmallow heaven?" Ashton giggles "Luke?" Natalie chimes in. "I was trying to be a supportive boyfriend." "I thought it was adorable." I assure him kissing him quickly on the lips.  

Natalie's POV

I feel my phone buzz in the pocket of my shorts.  I pull it out to see that it's Sabrina.  "Hey Sabrina." I say with a smile.  "Yeah um Natalie where are you right now?" Sabrina asks.  I run a hand through my hair and replied "On the beach and ditching prom.  Why?"

"Uh you've maybe been nominated for prom queen...." "Sorry WHAT?!" "Well you knew about that right?" "Well kinda sorta, but I didn't think much of it-" "They're gonna present the crowns in a half hour.  And since I'm helping to arrange some things....well.....you're winning by a long shot.  It's impossible for anyone to beat you out at this point.  So I need you back." Sabrina says, and I can hear the worry in her voice.

I nod biting my lip.  "Listen I know when you wanted to leave and all it was for good....but.....be the rugby fly half I know you are and come back for your team." Sabrina said and suddenly it hits me.  Whenever someone mentions me backing up the team, I'm always all in.  My team is like my second family, and my rock.  And I knew Sabrina had made a point.  I needed to be back there.  I needed to be the fly-half that I needed to be.

"Guys I have to head back." I stated as I hope that maybe one of them will be wiling to drive me back.  Luke looks up and says "Crap yes, we all need to!" "Wait why?" I ask suddenly.  Luke turns a little red.  "Oh um nothing, but it's important that we're all there....wait why do you need to head back?" he asked.

"I got nominated for prom queen and apparently I'm winning, so I have to get back there for my team and for that crown." I say as we all pile back in the car, and Michael speeds off, and we head back where we started.

"Ugh this is so difficult right now!" I say as I attempt to get the dress back on again.  Thankfully it didn't stain or rip, and I get it on, despite the great difficulty.  Skyler was slightly reluctant to put on her dress again, but I forced her.  My hair was alright, especially considering Skyler had put a special treatment in it to prevent it from going nuts like it usually would if I had gone down to the beach.  My makeup had gotten a little smudged, but it wasn't too noticeable, and I figured there wouldn't be too many pictures.

Finally we arrived back at the school and we all tumbled out, and me and Skyler ran in, heels in our hands as we rounded the corner to see that everyone had grouped in to get ready for the announcing of the prom king and queen.  We came just in the nick of time.
