Shopping: For Mackenzie

*Mackenzie’s POV*

“Mackenzie, do you really have to go shopping?” Shawn complained.

“Yes, I do,” I said, grabbing my bag, “We’re running out of almost everything, so I need to go get some stuff.”

“Okay then I’m coming with you,” Shawn stood up off the couch, going to put on his shoes.

I gave him a look. “Really?”

“What?” he grinned, “I don’t want you to leave me here all by myself, so I’ll come.”

“Okay,” I smiled, “You better not be annoying.”

“When am I annoying?” Shawn chuckled.

“A lot of the time.”

“Fine,” he stuck his tongue out at me as we left through the front door.

After climbing into my car, I started driving while Shawn flicked through the radio stations. Whenever he got to a song he liked, he would start singing pretty loudly while sticking his hand out the window. I always smiled to myself.

Soon we finally pulled up in front of the Shop Rite store. I got out of the car and Shawn reached for my hand.

“I call pushing the shopping cart!” Shawn called once we got inside. He ran over and got a shopping cart before pushing it down an aisle and hopping on the back of it.

“Shawn, be careful!” I laughed.

And sure enough in a couple of seconds, the cart leaned backward and Shawn hopped off just soon enough to stop himself from falling to the floor.

“I told you to be careful,” I said when he looked at me with wide eyes, “Do you want me to push the cart now?”

“No, no, I got it,” he insisted. We continued walking through the store as I grabbed the things we needed as we went.

I was walking around a corner when I heard a crash behind me. I turned back to see that Shawn had pushed the shopping cart right into one of the shelves, knocking some of the things to the floor.

He looked up and smiled slightly at me, “Oops.”

I rolled my eyes at him before taking the cart. “You’re literally more clumsy than a toddler,” I joked, “We’re almost done, come on.”

He followed behind me as I continued through the store. A couple minutes later, Shawn spoke up again. “Mackenzie,” he whined, “Are you done shopping yet? I’m bored.”

I sighed, “Yes, Shawn. I just need to get a couple more things.”

Shawn was quiet for a couple of minutes after that. That is until he sighed obviously loud and made a point of dragging his feet. He always acted like such a baby which I kind of hated and kind of enjoyed. He sure wasn’t keeping his promise of not being annoying.

Eventually, I had gotten everything and we walked to the checkout. There was a quiet celebration from Shawn. Once I had paid for everything, he and I grabbed the bags and headed back out the door.

“See Shawn, that wasn’t too hard, was it?” I asked.

“No not really-” he was cut off when he tripped on the curb.

I laughed again.

Shawn smiled after steadying himself, “Let me guess, I’m like a little kid who can barely walk?”

“No,” I shook my head, “You’re just cute.” I stepped up to him and pressed my lips to his for a second. His lips pulled up into a smile and I bumped into him a couple times playfully.

“Can I drive home?” he pretty much pouted.

"Sure."
