You and Shawn are both 15

*Y/n's POV*

It all seemed like a dream. It just couldn't be happening.

We had been friends since we were little kids and we had been dating for two years. But all of that was being thrown away because Shawn and his family were moving across the country.

He said that because of the distance it would be better for the both of us if we broke up, but I just thought I that it made saying goodbye harder.

I walked across the street from my house to his like a had a thousand times before. The only thing different was the white moving truck parked right outside.

Shawn sat on the steps to his house with a backpack slung over his shoulder and his guitar resting on the ground in it's case.

"Hey," I said quietly, sitting next to him.

He looked up and flashed a small smile, "Hey." I noticed he lacked his normal brightness and happiness and he seemed to keep his eyes on the ground as he played with his fingers.

"Are you done helping load the truck?" I asked.

Shawn nodded, "They are just getting the last things out of the house. We should be leaving any minute." I thought I saw some tears in his eyes though he was trying to hide it.

"I know you'll make it in the music industry someday," I told him kind of out of the blue, "You just have to keep working at it. And even though I won't be with you, I'll always believe you."

Shawn genuinely smiled, "Thanks. That means a lot." But his smile disappeared as the moment we both had been dreading was here.

The truck door rolled shut and Shawn's mom walked up in front of us, "Shawn, sweetie, it's time to go." She glanced at Shawn then walked away, getting in their car.

He stood up, me right after him, abs looked me in the eyes, both of ours filled with tears. Running up to hug him, I breathed into his neck and he rubbed my back.

"It'll be okay," Shawn tried to calm me down, "I promise we'll see each other again. This is isn't the end of us."

I pulled away and wiped my cheeks, "Promise you won't forget about me?"

"I promise."

We hugged again before Shawn climbed in the car and sadly waved as it drove behind the moving truck.

I watched the car for as long as I could until it turned a corner, leaving me alone. I ran back across the street and into my room before balling my eyes out into my pillow.

*3 years later*

Turns out that things didn't go how I thought they would. It wasn't going to be a perfect fairytale where we magically see each other again and keep in touch.

I hadn't seen or spoken to Shawn since that day and it didn't feel good at all. He would never answer any of my calls and I tried to convince myself that maybe he got a new phone number, but deep down I knew he didn't.

However, I did know what was going on with him in some way.

Soon after he moved away, his music career started to blow up. A record deal, an EP, two albums and tons of concerts. And luckily for me there was a show right in my city.

Shawn had actually gotten so famous that the meet and greet sold out in seconds, making my only option to see the show and try to find him afterwards backstage. (A/n: I have no idea how backstage works so just go with it)

Sitting down in my seat in the arena, questions swirled in my head. What was he like now? How much did he change? And would he even recognize me?

I decided to shut down my worrying mind and just enjoy the show.

Throughout the whole thing it was incredible how happy he was on stage. His voice was absolutely amazing and even though he was older, I still saw the same Shawn who I used to hang out with everyday as he ran offstage.

I followed the crowd out of the arena and made my way backstage, still in shock with how good he was.

There wasn't a ton of people that were there, but I could easily tell where Shawn was. Surrounded by people of course.

That's when the nerves and worries came back. What if he doesn't remember me? What if he doesn't even want to see me again?

But all the what-if's left my brain as the small crowed cleared and Shawn stood there, just a few feet in front if me, not noticing me yet.

He was definitely taller and his hair was longer, but he was just as (or maybe even more) captivating as he was three years ago.

Building up courage and confidence, I took a step forward but stopped when a gorgeous girl ran up to Shawn and hugged him, her arms around his neck. She wasn't wearing a backstage pass which basically meant she was someone Shawn knew.

Shawn hugged her back and making my heart get completely crushed, he let her kiss him on the lips.

Realizing that she must be his new girlfriend, my eyes as Shawn smiled down at her before looking up and locking eyes with me. He looked confused and then shocked looking at me, but I had had enough.

Why did I ever think he would wait for me?

My cheeks burned, becoming wet with tears as I turned and ran towards the exit door. And I could have sworn I saw him run after me.
