*Y/n's POV*

Shawn and I walked into the small auditorium with our eight-year-old son, Gavin, standing in between us. He held each of our hands.

We stopped walking and I kneeled down to his height. "Are you ready to perform up on that stage?" I asked him. It was his school's talent show and Gavin was going to be playing the piano for it. "Do you think you've practiced enough?"

He nodded happily. "I've played the piano since I was six!" he chorused.

I smiled and fixed his hair slightly, "Okay." I stood up and Shawn gave Gavin a quick hug. "Good luck, bud," Shawn hummed before Gavin had to go and get ready.

Shawn and I took our seats in front of the stage among the other parents. Shawn intertwined his fingers with mine as we waited for the show to start.

"I hope he's not nervous," Shawn stressed.

"I'm sure he'll do fine," I told, "He's more confident playing in front of people than you are."

Shawn grinned, "He honestly is." I thought about how Shawn's performing and love of music was clearly rubbing off on Gavin. It was cute seeing a little mini Shawn at times.

The lights in the room slowly turned mostly off and the curtain came back on the stage. Gavin's teacher stood on the stage and she talked for a little bit, introducing the first act. A few kids went before it was Gavin's turn. "That was an amazing talent, thank you," his teacher spoke, "Up next is Gavin Mendes who will be playing the piano." She smiled and walked off the stage as the crowd clapped.

Shawn seemed really excited next to me. I quickly got my phone out to film it as the stage lights came on and Gavin started to play the piano in front of him. He played a few short and pretty easy songs, but it was still impressive for how young he was.

When he finished, I cheered and looked over to Shawn. There was a big smile on his face and I noticed a tear rolling down his cheek.

"Are you crying?" I asked sweetly.

"No," he lied, wiping his cheek.

"Yes, you are!" I grinned, "Aww."

"It's just that it's his first performance. He's growing up and performing like me," Shawn explained, wiping his eyes again, "My little boy up there."

My heart melted and I placed my arm around his shoulders. Gavin waved to the crowd before he went off the stage, almost tripping on the stairs. I laughed lightly, "Just like his dad."

Shawn smirked at me, knowing it was true.

After the talent show was over, Gavin came running to us. "Mommy, Daddy, did I do good?" he asked, beaming.

Shawn picked Gavin up in his arms. "You did amazing," he complimented.

"Yes," I said, stepping closer to them, "Everyone loved you. Was it fun performing just like Daddy?"

He nodded, "Uh huh. Maybe someday I could perform in front of a million people!"

Shawn smiled at him, "If you really want to, Gavin, I know you can." Shawn then kissed his the top of his head and hugged him once again.

From there, we walked back to our car, Gavin skipping with excitement and Shawn looking incredibly happy and proud.
