Dear Diary,

I wonder if this was a book, what genre would it be? I certainly wouldn't be sociology or anything close to it. I don't talk about the ecomony or anything like it. (Well, I do briefly mention it, but not enough to catagorize it as such.) It can't be fiction because, frankly, it's true.

So, what does that make it?

Perhaps, in a form, it is sociology. I am detailing my growth as a young teenage girl in the second decade of the twenty-first century. I'm portraying thought and emotions and my everyday life as a Kentuckian. I'm describing to you, my friend, a tale of an ordinary girl who wishes to stand out. And because of this desire she is forced to stay true to herself, especially with every entry.

This girl is brave but not reckless. She is strong but not physically. She is beautiful even though society deems her as ugly. She is clever and always witty. She is mature but clings to childish things. She knows what matters the most in life. She is the protector who's unafraid to face the wrath of an eternal Hell to see that what she values is forever safe.

She is me.

Love,

Alison
