I had just walked past him when a sudden sting on my rear end made me freeze in my tracks.

He and his friends laughed.

My wolf growled, threatening to make an appearance.

I turned around and slapped him across his face.

My hand burned but I ignored it. "Doesn't feel good does it."

"You little b-" He grabbed my arm roughly.

"Unhand her right now." A stern voice said.

Violet stood beside her mate, River, as he stared down Alpha Grayson.

She's just a month older than me so of course she found hers first.

"Who do you think you're talking to?" Alpha Grayson let go of my arm.

"You may have the title but that doesn't change anything. You're still the scared little bitch from last year and I will kick your ass again." River said.

Violet grabbed my arm, gently, and pulled me to her side. "What he said."

Alpha Grayson pushed past him. "Whatever dude. We were joking."

River held out his arm for Violet, which she took smugly and we walked away.

"See you later, babe." He yelled after us.

"Ugh. Who does that guy think he is to try and force himself on you?" Violet said.

River kissed her forehead. "Easy now. Angry is not a good look on you."

She blushed. "Ok. I won't be angry."

When she dropped me off at home I started to worry.

Nobody was home, per usual. I walked up to my room and threw my book bag on my bed.

I don't want to marry the Alpha.

I've spent everyday up until now dreaming of the moment I first meet my mate.

He will not take this from me even if he is Alpha.

My wolf, Leia, growled as I thought about it all.

'Where have you been all day?' I asked her.

'Waiting for our mate.' She said

'I don't want to marry the alpha.' I thought.

'Then don't.' She said. 'Our mate will come for us.'

'Ok. I want to talk about something else.' I thought.

'It's been ages since we've gone for a run.' She said.

'We'll go for one today.' I thought.

'You said that yesterday.' She complained.

I looked out my window and saw a black honda parked in the driveway.

Alpha Grayson got out, dressed in an entire suit and checked his watch.

'Ok we're going now.' I said.

I ran out of my room and across the hall to my parents room.

The sound of a fist pounding on the front door could be heard from downstairs.

I slid open their bedroom window and climbed onto the windowside.

I waited to see if he had heard me hit the ground and when he didn't show up I started to undress.

I folded up my clothes and sat them on a chair we kept outside for this purpose.

I shifted as quietly as I could.

Though it had only been a month since I'd shifted, it felt good to feel free once again.

Leia couldn't agree more.

The only feature that stayed the same were my eyes.

My body was covered in short, off-white fur. Like the color of fresh eggs or snowflakes.

'This feels nice. You really ought to brush your hair more.' She said.

'Be satisfied.' I rolled my eyes.

I turned towards the trees and took off running as fast as I could.

Little did I know, this is what I would be doing daily for a while.
