GINGERBREAD

Plain Flour | 350g

Butter | 100g

Ground Ginger | 5 & 1/2 Teaspoons

Ground Cinnamon | 1 & 1/2 Teaspoon

Bicarbonate of Soda | 1 Teaspoon

Light Brown Soft Sugar | 175g

Golden Syrup | 4 Tablespoons

Egg | 1

< METHOD >

Light oven gas mark 4 or 180c. In a mixing bowl, combine the flour, butter, ginger, cinnamon and bicarbonate of soda until crumbly. Add the sugar, golden syrup, and the egg until it forms a firm pastry. On a flour covered surface, use a rolling pin to roll out the pastry to 5mm thick, then use a gingerbread men cookie cutter and place them on a baking tray. Allow the gingerbread men to cook in the oven for 15 minutes or until golden brown.
