Chapter 21.

I slowly nodded my head.

"Well that's good because he is the father of your child," the nurse said with a smile.

I gave her a fake one.

No, no, no! This can't be happening! Diamond was supposed to be Niall's! Not Harry's!

I could feel my phone vibrating in my pocket. It was obviously Niall calling me back to ask me what was wrong.

I let out a strangled breath and forced a "thank you" to the nurse. She smiled and went on with her job.

Meanwhile, my phone would not shut up. I finally picked it up, shifting Diamond on my lap.

"Hello?" I asked, half annoyed.

"Hey," a voice said at the other end and it definitely was not Niall's.

*Niall's POV*

I frantically pulled at my hair while I waited for Julia to call back. I'd learned my lesson before. If you called her and she didn't want to talk, she wouldn't. I just waited for her to call me.

I glanced at the table where the stack of finished invitations lay. She was going to be proud. I actually finished.

To calm myself, I sat down and took out my phone. I decided that I needed a new background. My old one was getting a bit, well, old.

I scrolled through my pictures and finally found a good one of Julia and I kissing and Diamond smiling happily at the camera.

Those girls were my life, good grief.

I set the picture as my lock screen and locked my phone, setting it on the kitchen table. Almost as soon as I set it down, it vibrated with a text.

I glanced at it and saw that it was from an unknown number. I opened the text.

'Ask about the father.' It said. What? I quickly typed up a reply.

'I think you've got the wrong number.'

I sent it and settled back in my chair. That should make them stop. My phone buzzed again and I cursed.

'Nope. I know exactly who you are.'

I rolled my eyes. It's probably some ten year old who just got a phone for their birthday and had the wrong number.

'Then who am I?' I asked them, knowing they wouldn't get it right. The reply came almost immediately and it sent a dagger of fear through my heart.

'Niall James Horan.'
