Duchess ( Revamped)

Start from the beginning

" Yes ", I nodded.

" Then you know that you are to be married to the Prince of Wakanda very soon. Your brother has already married his bride. It is time to start your own story Harper, to make your own path with what you can. Remember your training, remember everything we taught you. This is the beginning of the rest of your life ", my mother smiled encouragingly at me. I looked down at Oliver who sat by my feet. He looked up at me cluelessly. In some ways I envied the little lamb, because his life was simple. I knew this day would come but I had no idea it would feel like this.

" The court of Wakanda is not like Cai. They will groom your differently, talk to you differently, expecting things of you. It will be alarming but you are ready. You're my strong girl  ", my father praised me. I tried to receive the compliment but it didn't fill me with warmth. I didn't receive a warmth from him, but rather a stone cold need for order and tradition.

" Your journey begins tonight. Everything you need is in place. We've been over this millions of time. Until then.....a nice breakfast with your favorite American chocolate pancakes ", My mother reinforced. A big breakfast was just what I needed. Empty calories would take my mind off all this.

The chef's conjured up the breakfast of a lifetime for my parents and myself included. The same went for lunch and dinner. Even my brother came over to send me off. It was good to know that he still scared, having gone off to be a family man a couple years ago. He was the first to hug me, standing on the Wakandan ship that was sent for me. Dora's stood at the entrance of the plane guarding me from potential harm. I would soon be Wakandan royalty, and their loyalty to me would be the same to me as it is to the Royal bloodline.

" Give him hell ", my brother Ahmet (duke ) kissed my temple. I laughed at his wanting for my rebellion. I was always a good girl, but he felt deep down defiance was there.

Next my parents came to bid me farewell. They sent me words of wisdom, and praises of how I'd change the future. All of it was great but I no longer saw it that way. I'd never speak of my hidden resentment towards for my Father for never asking me if this was what I wanted. I just hoped to god that this decision wasn't the wrong one. I only knew the surface level of T'challa. It had been a long time since I had last seen him, this would surely be challenging. Even more challenging since I had to leave Oliver behind. I'm sure they wouldn't want a little lamb running around the palace making a mess

" We will reach Wakanda in exactly eight hours. Please take your seat, Princess ", One of the Dora's walked towards the piloting system while the other sat across from me. After I buckled myself into the seat I felt the ground rumble until we shot into the air. My parents, and my brother were ants in the distance now. Despite my reckless nerves, surprisingly I was able to fall asleep not cracking my eyes open until the sunlight poured onto my face. I opened my eyes to a magnificent sight. I'd only been to Wakanda a few times but it had changed once again since my last visit.
