You really can't live half a Christian life and that be good enough. God didn't die half way for you on the cross, He didn't kind of rise again to defeat death. When I was younger I didn't understand that when I was younger, I told God I was going to do my own thing for a couple of years and have fun and then when I was older and an adult I would give me to do His work through. I didn't understand that the rules God has set for Christian are to help them have a better life. Not an easier life but one with more joy, love, and peace. You can't deeply love people when you're focused on yourself, you can't live in peace when you don't rest, you can't live in joy if you're always anxious. God wants the best life for you but you aren't going to get that by half living the way He tells you to. That's like following half of the Lego instructions and still thinking it's going to turn out looking the same as it does if you followed all of the instructions.
