Jesus really was born in a barn surrounded by animals to a girl who was probably about 14 and terrified. But she knew God was working in her life. An angel came and told her she was having a child when she wasn't married when she could get killed for that, she had to make a long journey and deliver her first child in a smelly barn with no doctors. We often imagine this perfect Christmas scene with a silent night and faces glowing but I bet it was a mess. Which is perfect considering Jesus was coming into this messy world to be with us, He didn't make everything about His birth perfect but He made people better through His birth. Mary trusted that God's plan for her would work out even when it put her through some hard circumstances. Since she did trust Him she got to be a part of God's plan to save the world and she had a child that she loved. When we don't see how things are going to work out remember how Mary trusted in God and try to have that same trust that He will make something good out of your circumstances.
