"She's got a date," Meredith chimed in.

"Meredith! You shut it," I pointed at her.

"Oh," Derek said, a little confused, "Well good for you, Brandy."

"No, it's good for you!" I yelled at him, as I headed out the door.

••

"You need to tell Derek. It's stressing me out. A lot, and when I'm stressed I like ramble and ramble, and I can't stop talking. It's annoying. Super annoying. Like I don't even know how people can stand me when I'm stressed, because I talk so much. I also eat a bunch, see? I already had breakfast this morning but look at me. Look at me!" I told him, as I cut through my pancakes, almost cutting through the plate.

"I can see that," Mark said, as he watched me cut my pancakes.

"Derek's scary. He's scary when he's mad, this is the kinda thing that'll make him mad, and when he's mad he's just scary!"

"Calm down," He placed a hand on my arm, "Derek's not gonna be mad. Okay? I'll tell him soon. Also people are starting to stare so stop freaking out."

"Okay, stop freaking out. Stop freaking out," I told myself.

"That's not helping either. Let's just talk about something else, get your mind off of it," He suggested.

"Oh, my grandma sold her house. So that means I might be homeless by the end of the month if I don't find somewhere else to live," I sighed.

"I didn't mean something more stressful," he said.

"Everything's stressful! I need surgery. Please tell me you have a surgery on can scrub in on? I haven't been in surgery since," I paused, "Since stuff happened."

"Are you ready?" He asked.

"Ugh, yes I'm ready! I wasn't ever not ready. People just assume 'cause two of my best friends die I can't do a surgery. I'm fine!"

"Derek's got one today if you're interested. I could talk to him," He said.

"Oh, yes please," I sighed, "Thank you."

He nodded, "Don't worry about Derek. I'm gonna tell him and you'll be my date to the wedding."

"Wedding? Who's? What?" I asked.

"You didn't hear? Derek's proposing," Mark said.

My jaw dropped at hearing the news, "Wow, I didn't hear. That's-that's awesome! Took them long enough."

"Yeah, it did."

"We should probably get going. We're gonna be late," I said, checking my watch.

The two of us stood up and intertwined our fingers as we walked out of the restaurant and down to the hospital.

"If I was homeless would you still date me?" I asked him, as we walked.

"You're not gonna be homeless," He told me, "Move in with Meredith and Derek?"

"Derek's already trying to kick Alex out, and turn his old room into an office," I told him.
