To answer this, I gently stepped forward and pecked his lips lightly. Cole didn’t force anything else and simply smiled.
‘Wanna do something after school?’ he asked.
‘What do you have in mind?’ I smiled.
‘I don’t know; nothing major. We can go out to eat if you like?’
‘What’s the special occasion?’
He shrugs. ‘There isn’t one; maybe I just want to spend time with you before exams take you away.’
‘Fair enough,’ I spoke before pausing and realising the bell had gone for last period-music.
‘Better speed this up, shouldn’t we? Okay well, I wanted to ask you something before Cole slips and Mr Ford’s mask comes back on. Are you . . . are you still having those dreams?’ he asked the last part hesitantly.
In that moment, I turned away and walked to a desk just as students began pouring in.
I couldn’t answer that; I couldn’t lie to him like that because the truth was that those dreams weren’t just dreams. They were there when I went to sleep at night, they were there when I woke up in the mornings; they had been following me all the time, intruding reality.

Cole and I had arranged for me to meet him in the parking lot, by his car at 7o’clock after signing out.
The night was dark and a bit chilly, but not as chilly as it was going to be later on.
I wore a pink dress that came to above my knees. It was tight up to my bellybutton before it came down loosely the rest of the way. I also wore black stockings and a black cardigan. My hair was left out with my bangs clipped out of my face.
I watched as Cole approached me with a surprised look. He wore black skinny jeans with a purple button down shirt and a black tie. All in all, I was the luckiest girl in the world. I almost melted just looking at him.
‘You look amazing, hun.’ Cole said as he stopped in front of me, kissing me on the cheek.
I tried to supress the giggle in my throat.
‘Thank you; you don’t look too bad yourself.’
Then we were off.
When we reached the restaurant (one that was far enough out of town that we didn’t think anyone we know would be there), we got seated on the furthest table away from the entry. The restaurant was lovely and really formal. It looked really expensive but I didn’t really want to think about the hole burning in my pocket.
Cole and I spent the night talking and laughing and feeling really comfortable with each other. It felt like old times. It was nice.
By the time dessert came, we weren’t really paying much attention to it; taking only a few bites a minute.
I then heard Cole swear under his breath as he turned his face away.
‘Don’t look now, Avery. Just don’t turn around.’
‘W-why?’ I asked curiously.
‘I don’t want you to freak out-‘ he began.
‘Just tell me,’ I said.
‘Ms Osborne just got seated at a table near the entrance.’ Cole said, trying to keep his voice even.
At that moment, my whole body froze. I couldn’t do this again. I couldn’t go through getting caught a second time. I just couldn’t.
‘Ok, keep calm,’ he began, dropping a hundred dollar bill on the table. ‘Just follow my lead.’ He said before walking towards her.
‘What-‘ I didn’t get the chance to ask as he was gone.
‘Oh hello, Scarlette; how lovely to see you this evening.’ Cole said to her as she stood up and hugged him lightly before she sat down again.
‘So who are you expecting tonight, if you don’t mind me asking?’
‘Oh, a past work colleague,‘ she began.
And in that moment I knew that was my queue. I gathered my things and darted to the door.
As soon as I reached the exterior, I felt the cold breeze hit me.
Oh lord, I thought. I made it.
I went and stood beside Cole’s car, slightly shivering. I wasn’t sure if I was shivering because of tonight’s recent events or if I was simply cold.
‘I’m so sorry for that, Avery; nothing ever seems to go right.’ He sighed, closing his eyes.
‘It was perfect, don’t worry.’ I said before he opened his eyes and we both began to laugh.
LetMehink0:
Bleh chapter but i felt bad that i hadnt updated in a while. I'm still considering whether or not im going to stop writing this story. If i decide im going to keep writing, im going to hurry up and get everything that i was planning on happening to happen so i can finish it. And if that happens, it may only go up to no more than 40 chapters. But if i decide aganist it and i stop writing, i apologize but i dont think many people read this anymore; idk.
Any thoughts, suggestions or anything, please dont hesitate to comment.
