Chapter 11
Emotional Scars-His eyes were full of tears as he spoke.
‘Girls, OK, we were organising a Snow trip to Canberra for the holidays for five days but we have just been informed that there’s a blizzard forecasted for then so we have had to cancel it-‘Principal Maletos announced at our year meeting. Everyone groaned and booed at that. ‘-But, we have gone ahead with the planning of a new trip, same time, same amount of days, but instead, it will be at Luna Park, Australia’s great amusement park. We will be staying at a hotel which is a five minute ferry ride from the amusement park. During those five days, half of them will be spent at Luna Park and the other half on the beach were the hotel will be located.’ And with that, everyone started cheering and jumping for joy; Principal Maletos had a hard time keeping everyone in their seats so he could continue.
He kept talking about the price, necessities to pack, things like that.
‘Everyone should thank Mr Ford as without him, we wouldn’t be going on this trip. Any questions?’ he asked after a couple of people cheered for Mr Ford. I simply sat there quietly and patiently waited them to past.
Lydia put her hand up as she lifted her head in superiority. ‘Yes Lydia?’
‘Well we were just wondering which teachers will be accompanying us.’ She said as she looked at her friends and shared a giggle amongst them.
‘That would be… Mr Parker, Ms Fletcher and Mr Telco.’ He announced.
Most of the girls, if not all, pouted without the mention of Mr Ford’s name.
But thank god, I really didn’t need him putting that extra weight onto my shoulders and making the trip a blow.
Meghann squeezed my shoulder as I turned to her. She held a happy, easy smile.
‘This is going to be epic.’ Meghann said.
‘Hell yeah.’ I agreed.

The trip to Luna Park was the main talk for the rest of the day.
‘So, do you wanna chill after school and talk more about the trip?’ Meghann asked as the final bell went.
‘No, sorry, I’ve got counselling… and anyway, we can’t always talk about it or we’re going to get sick of it even before we go.’ I smirked.
‘Yes, we wouldn’t want that, would we?’ Meghann asked in fake-shock. ‘Anyway, good luck and text me after.’ She said as she pulled me in for a friendly hug before waving me off.
I arrived at the admin block and the receptionist informed me that Naomi would be back in five minute so I sat in one of the waiting chairs.
My mind drifted to the most random of thoughts. I started thinking about Kimberly. She didn’t come to school today, she was sick or something. But I didn’t care; did she really deserve this much of my mind space? That’s right, she didn’t.
‘Ahh Avery, you’re here. Come in.’ Naomi said as she walked into the office doors, bringing a ray of light into the building for a second before the doors came in the way, instantly vanishing the light from my eyes.
I stood up with a smile as I followed Naomi into the room I had grown so familiar with.
Once the door was finally closed, we sat in our usual positions as she clasped her hands together and placed them on her desk. She looked at me with a caring smile.
‘I have really been eagerly awaiting this session since Tuesday because of… the little incident. Now please, tell me all about it; do not think you need to hold back. I will not judge.’ Naomi said, and frankly, I believed her.
