Chapter 23

Unforeseen- I don’t know why I did it, I just did.

His hand brushed my cheek before tucking in my stray hairs behind my ear. Every touch, every connection between the two of us felt electric. Cole continued to use his electric touch all the way past my jaw line to my collar bones before coming back up and resting on my lips for a second. Goosebumps sprang up on my arms as I tried to suppress a joyful shiver. I missed this. There was always something that came in the way of the two of us . . . not anymore.

Cole then leaned down and softly placed his lips on top of mine for a second before leaning out. The kiss wasn’t intended to be intense or passionate; no, it was soft and sweet . . . something I had been missing.

I looked up to him and smiled, trying to supress a childish giggle. Cole must have noticed as he shook his head humorously.

He then stepped back, away from me and regained his self-control. I guess it was the smart thing to do, considering we were kind of in his classroom and anyone could have walked in, which is how we got caught last time.

‘Now, Ms Blake-‘ he started until I giggled. He raised his eyebrow at me in confusion.

‘Sorry…you just haven’t called me that in a while.’ I admitted.

He chuckled. ‘Right…as I was saying; I should probably go. I have a staff meeting now which I would think they would be expecting me. I’ll see you tomorrow hun.’ He said before kissing me on the cheek.

I smiled and expressed my thoughts before walking out.

**

The rest of the afternoon past fairly quick and night came before I knew it.

I picked up my guitar from the position it had lay beside me as I had sat outside.

The air outside was humid. Clouds surrounded and enveloped the sky but the temperature still remained strangely warm. Night had fallen only thirty minutes ago and already mosquitoes had attached themselves too me. I shivered at the thought and rubbed my hands on my bare skin.

I could hear the crickets chirping their lives away; I could hear the wind blow noisily; spreading the hot air. Sounds surrounded me, sounds I hadn’t listened to in a while…or hadn’t bothered to listen to in a while. But could you blame me? Things had changed so much.

When I finally decided I had better get inside before night watch came, I picked up my guitar and headed towards the girls’ dorms.

After a quick shower, I hopped in bed and fell asleep as soon as my head hit the pillow.

**

When I awoke the next day; not feeling the slightest bit frustrated at my alarm clock for waking me up as I felt full rested; I got sprang out of bed and got changed.

I put on my pink skinny jeans, black converse and a black top before gathering my bag and exiting the girls’ dorm.

As soon as I hit the exterior of the building, there was a nervous buzz of chatter and anxiety as people gathered in the assembly place.

I shrugged and followed everyone else. When I got close enough, I realized Principal Maletos stood at the heart of the stage, waiting for everyone to gather. It looked as though I had missed the announcement over the speakerphone.

‘Okay, gather around,’ principal Maletos said to the surrounding teens.

Around me there were not only seniors but people from all years. I guess the whole school had showed up. But for what, I was not sure.
