Hayley's P.O.V.

I rushed to the small witch shop of the city. It was the only place I could find what I wanted. A short, young girl was just closing the shop.

"Oh, hey, wait please!" I called out loud.

"I'm sorry. We are closed." She replied smiling.

"I just need a tiny, little herb. Please." My urgent tone caught her attention.

"Which herb?" She asked still smiling.

"Crushed aconite flower." Her eyes grew wide.

"Wolfsbane? That's a poison! You want to kill a wolf?"

"Just a little one." I said moving motioning to my belly. Her eyes grew even wider.

"Give me a minute." She said, before unlocking the door and entering the shop in a hurry.
Sandra would kill me, if she knew about this. But, I couldn't just let myself be imprisoned for the rest of my life, because of a one moment mistake. I wanted to be free. Shortly after, the girl reappeared, handing me the herb and giving me some instructions. When I handed the money to her, she denied it.

"It's an ugly town for wolves. You are doing the right thing." I nodded and walked away.

Cassie's P.O.V.

I opened my eyes slowly. Where was I? It was already dark. What happened to me? Instantly, everything came back into my mind. I sat up abruptly. Where was Hayley? I stood up, ignoring the pain in my head and basically my whole body. I shouted her name over and over again. The house was empty. If something happened to her, I would have known. But, to be honest I wasn't really sure how this oath thing worked either. I was still worried though. She wouldn't have left, if she didn't have something in her mind. And I didn't like that. Suddenly, I felt something I couldn't explain. A feeling that I was in danger. I followed my instinct. It guided me right where Hayley was. She was about to drink something when three vampires appeared.

"Dump move coming into the Quarter. You are coming with me wolf!" One of them ordered.

"I'm fed up with vampires telling me what to do!" She shouted and threw her drink at his face. I was fast enough to break the other's neck, while Rebekah took care of the remaining vampire.
"Well, that's not a way to treat a pregnant lady. I do hate bad manners." She said throwing the vampire's heart on the ground.

I looked at Hayley who looked as guilty as hell. "Are you alright?" I asked her. She nodded too ashamed to talk.

"Why are you so silent?" Rebekah asked noticing her strange behaviour. Hayley lowered her head. She was about to talk, when I cut her off.

"Do you think it's time for chit-chat in plain sight?" I asked Rebekah who nodded agreeing.

"You are right. Let's get out of here." We headed back to the mansion, where Klaus was waiting for us, having the vampire corpses in the front yard. He looked angry. Very angry.

"This is why I told you to never leave the house." His voice was quite calm, although you could sense his anger behind his words. The bodies of the dead vampires where at the centre of the house's front yard and Klaus was about to set them on fire. "Werewolves are banned in the Quarter. I had a plan and your little night time stroll put it in danger. Leave him!" He yelled, as Rebekah took a few steps towards the last breathing vampire.

"You've done enough, don't you think? Leaving a trail of bodies like a roadmap to my door?" He continued.

"If I hadn't overheard these idiots bragging about werewolf heads, everyone here would be screwed. And don't you give me that crap about having a plan. You had all the time in the world to execute a plan and no one has seen you do a damn thing! Elijah made a deal to protect YOUR child, so that he could save you from your selfish, rotten self. You obviously don't give a damn for the child or Elijah, because what have you done to honour it?" Rebekah finished her attack breathless.

As Klaus took his time explaining us his big plan of taking down Marcel, I leaned towards Hayley and whispered to her. "Fyi, this is a typical Mikaelson conversation." She turned to me shocked. I flashed a smile at her.

"And this one, I'm going to drain him of vervain and compel him to believe that his friends found religion and moved to Yiuta, so that he can explain to Marcel, why he lost three more vampires tonight." Klaus explain, as he was dragging the vampire into the house and damping him in the middle of the hallway. "Does anyone have any other questions?" He asked. I didn't like his tone. He seemed really pissed off.

I looked at Rebekah and Hayley. They remained silent. "Good! Because I have a question, Hayley!" The way he pronounced her name clearly showed how angry he was. And an angry Klaus was never a good Klaus. "What where you doing in the bloody French Quarter in the first place?" Hayley remained silent and continued glaring at him. "Answer me!" He yelled at her.

"Klaus..." I warned him, suddenly in alert.

"Leave her be." Rebekah said after me.

"You want to know what I was doing?" She replied challengingly taking a few steps towards Klaus. "I was buying poison, so I could put your little baby out of its misery." She replied straight to his face.

"What?" I whispered shocked. Klaus's face stiffened until it became a mask of pure anger. In seconds, he had Hayley pinned at the wall with his hand around her neck, squeezing it.

"Nik!" Rebekah called out for her brother, trying to make him think. I wasn't going to wait that long.

I lunged at him, pinning him to the opposite wall, while Hayley was struggling to catch her breath, still terrified by Klaus's sudden outburst. "And wasn't your job to protect her?!" Klaus turned on me yelling. I was a little shocked to be honest. "Shouldn't you keep her away from trouble? To keep her safe?" He continued in the same tone.

"It wasn't her fault!" Hayley shouted turning everyone's attention on her. "She passed out. And instead of staying here and helping her, I damped her on a cold floor. I'm sorry." She said the last part looking me in the eyes.

"You don't have to apologize. There is no excuse for my inability to keep you safe. I took an oath and I should fulfil it. Even if I'm on the verge of dying, I have the duty to protect you. I should be the one apologizing. I'll do my best for this to never happen again." I replied. Hayley tried to protest, along with Rebekah, but I raised my hand preventing them from uttering any of their objections. "It won't happen again." I repeated. "Now, after such a long night, I suggest that you should go get some rest, Hayley. You are pregnant after all." She nodded and I pointed upstairs. "After you."

I don't know if she really wanted to sleep, but she did as she was told out of her own will or guilt. I followed her, but when I reached the bottom of the stairs, Klaus's voice stopped me.

"Cassandra..." I turned to look at him. He was calmer now. "I'm sorry for yelling at you." I kept my face emotionless. I was emotionless. I just nodded and continued my way to my room. When I was finally inside, I closed the door behind me, sighing deeply.

It was harder than I thought.
