Some weeks later...

I was drinking coffee in a bar in Chicago. These past few weeks had been a blessing to me. My time away from Mystic Falls helped me find myself again. Of course, I knew that I would never be the same without Elijah, but I could live with that. I knew he loved me. He had promised. And that kept me going. Deep inside I was hoping that I would see him again, one day.

I had made contact with my Granny. She seemed happy to hear me being better. I had also talked to Alexander. I think he didn't believe my story about wanting to explore the country. He was sure Elijah had something to do with me running away. Although, he pretended to believe me, seeing my persistence.

Chicago was a beautiful city. I loved exploring new areas. All my life, I had been trapped in Mystic Falls. Now, I was free. And I loved it. I was drinking my coffee, peacefully staring out of the window, when I felt somebody's presence behind me. Turning around, I faced a black, brunette girl with dark brown eyes.

"OMG!!!" The girl exclaimed

"OMG!!!" The girl exclaimed. I gave her a confused look. I didn't recognize her. Then why did I had the feeling I knew her from somewhere? "OMG!!!" She kept screaming.

"Ok, can you please calm down? We have drawn too much attention." I tried to stop her from screaming at least.

"Oh, yes. You are right. I'm sorry." She said taking a seat right across from me.

"I think you mistake me for somebody else. I don't recall having met you."

"Oh, yes. How rude of me! I'm Venus." She introduced herself.

"Cassandra." I replied shaking her hand.

"I knew it!" She exclaimed, but stopped immediately seeing my expression. "Sorry." She mumbled.

"Remind me again why you were screaming?"

"You don't recognize me?" She asked shocked, almost hurt.

"Sorry, I don't." I repeated once again.

"We have history together." She explained. But, her explanation confused me even more.

"What do you mean history?" I asked.

"You are the descendant of Cassandra of Troy. I'm the descendant of the witch Ashia. She was best friends with an ancestor of yours. She is the one that created the prophetess's curse." That made sense...

"Now, I see why I feel like I know you."

"See?" She replied excitedly.

"How did you recognize me?" I asked the obvious.

"Red hair, blue eyes... Seriously? Your bloodline is legendary. Our parents use to tell us stories about the great Cassandra of Troy and her descendants."

"Really?" I asked astonished. I didn't expect to hear that.

"Really. We are your protectors." I choked on my coffee.
