Period 4: History: Mr Ryan: D8
Lunch
Period 5: Music: Mr Ford: C3
That was probably one of the best schedules I had ever had. With Miss Fletcher it was obviously going to be weird but she was the exception. Mrs Stewart was a mid-aged, thin, nice teacher. She was respected by a lot of the kids and you could say she hadn’t yelled in years. Mr Ryan was in his thirties; he was extremely tall and an easy going teacher. And as for Mr Ford; well I wasn’t quite sure where we went from last time. I thought we had sorted it out, at least the slightest bit, but I had conflicting emotions since he hadn’t even bothered to visit me.
My alarm clock buzzed and sang frantically as I had forgotten to turn it off when I had escaped my room.
I knew this was my cue to leave for school, but I hesitated, even the slightest bit. My previous bad dream and vision flashed back into my mind. I was afraid. The flashback had felt so real.
I took a few deep, steadying breathes before packing my school bag and walking out the door.

When I arrived at English, every eye was turned to either me or Kimberly.
‘Morning, Avery.’ she said, most likely trying to lighten the mood as I sat beside Meghann, Kiren and Ashton.
‘Morning.’ I said as I gave her a smile.
‘Have you found your timetable satisfactory?’
‘Yeah, it’s actually quite good.’ I concluded, turning to my friends.
‘Hey Avery.’ both friends said before our attention was drawn to the front of the room.
‘Okay class, welcome back. I hope your holidays have been pleasant,’ she said as she met my gaze before continuing. ‘This term we will be concentrating on the literature of the eighteenth hundreds. We will be starting by reading the spectacular novel, Jane Eyre by Charlotte Bronte. Any questions?’
A few hands shot up but before “Miss Fletcher” had time to pick one, a voice came from the back.
‘Yeah, I’ve got one! Are you really Avery’s sister? And is it true that you and Avery got into a fight when she found out?’ a guy asked.
‘That’s two questions, douche bag.’ Kiren raised his voice from beside me, but his body language indicated he hadn’t even spoken.
The three of us sat motionless, still facing the front while my eyes were spaced out. The class was silent, waiting for something to happen…anything. Most of the class probably hoped that either Kimberly or I would reply.
‘Yes and no. Now, where, uhh, were we?’ Miss Fletcher rhetorically asked, trying to regain the class’s attention.
There were murmurs and whispers from behind me. I knew this was going to happen…I just hoped it wouldn’t.
‘STOP! …and listen. I want all of you to leave your childish behaviour in the playground, or maybe even stop it altogether. I don’t need this, and Avery sure as hell doesn’t need this either, and if you haven’t noticed, we’re in class right now. It is none of your business what relation Avery and I have. Take it up with the principal if you have any further objections.’ This was the first time I had ever seen Kimberly look so professional and composed. She eyed the class before turning back to the book. I felt a stab of new fondly respect towards her as I couldn’t believe how she was handling any of this.
The class seemed to hush after her words.
‘Now, I’m glad we’re past that. Where were we?’ she said more confidently.
