‘Got it.’ Mr Parker said in comprehension.

And then they too were off.

Avery Blake’s POV

Sleep had finally managed to find me, but at what cost?

Kimberly was overrunning my mind while I was awake, but now she too took over my dreams. Could I not escape the thought of her for a little while, or was that too much out of the equation?

I had lost track of the hours in which I spent sulking. Every time a simple thought came to mind, I took it on like Pythagoras Theorem. I basically didn’t know which way was up.

After my first night being spent alone in the damp, cold cave; I began to get extremely weak with restlessness (as I hadn’t been able to sleep properly) and hunger. Sure, I had my mini backpack, but all it had beheld was my phone (which had no signal), deodorant and my wallet. But the main problem was that I didn’t know what to do about the food factor…nothing seemed appetizing as my choice’s consisted of nothing more than raw fish or people’s garbage from the bin’s (EW, not happening).

I would have given anything to be back in my dorm at Northern-Bay Academy, comfy in my snug bed. But things had been blown out of proportion…life wasn’t meant to be like this. I wasn’t sure how to tackle life anymore…maybe as a soulless zombie…or a simple but empty shell.

The atmosphere around me was cold and heavy, I had realized after coming back and facing reality or as close to reality as I could manage.

I stood just outside of the cave-like formation, looking out towards the sea. I couldn’t see the sun as it was covered by many layers of white-grey clouds. And just as that realization occurred to me, I began to feel a light drizzle from above, softly hitting my cheeks, then my forehead, then all parts of me as it began to get harder. But I didn’t care; I sat down and let myself get soaked.

The rain felt unusually natural to my nature. My hair was now a big lump of saturated hair. I could feel many drops of icy water running down my cheeks, going onto my drenched shirt.

I liked the rain; it made all my thoughts and worries disappear. But not even the rain could keep out the thoughts of Kimberly and Cole forever.

Meghann Vanderent’s POV
…5p.m previous night…

It was all out in the open now, I wasn’t even sure how. Someone must have overheard because now, as we all sat outside of the park, not being able to leave without Avery; everyone was talking about the two of them.

I had heard at least ten different scenarios on what had happened when Ms Fletcher told Avery she was her sister. Some said that Ms Fletcher was lying and it was some sort of scheme to get money. Others said that when Avery found out, all hell froze over. Of course everything that was said was a lie.

People needed to get their facts right.

‘No, it didn’t happen like that; I saw it. Avery punched her straight in the face!’ some girl was eagerly telling her friends from nearby.

I simply rolled my eyes and tried my hardest in restraining myself in going over there and punching that girl in the face.

‘Mr Parker!’ I shouted as I saw him unexpectedly emerge from the surrounding teenagers.

‘Meghann, there you are.’ He said, sounding exasperated.

‘Have you heard anything?’ I asked.

‘No, I’m sorry Meghann, nothing new.’

‘Meghann, Mr Parker!’ shouted Kiren as he too (joined by Ashton) came over to us.
