My mouth gapped at her.
There was no way Kimberly didn’t hear that.
I looked around and realized Kiren and Ashton’s mouths were both equally gapping in astonishment.
‘Meghann.’ I hissed but it was too late; Kimberly suddenly turned around. But her look wasn’t as bad as I thought it would be.
She looked annoyed but it looked as though she didn’t want to cause any trouble or make a scene.
‘Meghann, I would much appreciate you control your tongue and do without the language…especially about a teacher. But we’re on holiday and I want everyone to enjoy themselves so…I guess…no harm done.’ She said the last part strained, almost reluctantly before turning back to the front.
I think Meghann looked just as shocked as the rest of us ‘S-sorry.’ She quickly muttered to no one in particular before turning red.
Once it was Kimberly’s go, Ashton turned to us ‘Why don’t you guys like her? Sure, she’s not my favourite person but it seems you guys have more problems with her. Am I right?’ he asked.
‘It’s…a long story I guess. One we will have to tell you one day.’ I said.
‘So she has done something then?’ Ashton asked me.
But his words were drained out by the fortune teller’s words.
‘You my darling are hiding a great secret. One in which shall change someone’s life when spoken. You have not summed up the courage to tell the intended person yet though but I can see within you that you’re desperate in doing so. You think it will ruin not just yourself but that girl too. And you may be right. You have known this particular thing for a while but you have simply stood on the side lines and watched her through a distance. Many people are risking themselves in keeping this secret for you until you intend on telling her. I may be wrong but I get the feeling it has something to do with blood…a possible sister, I do think. Am I right my dear?’ asked the mid-aged woman.
But of course Kimberly didn’t reply, no, she looked straight behind to where I was standing. Her eyes were as wide as anything as I locked eyes with her. ‘Avery.’ She whispered in such an unrecognisable voice that I could say it wasn’t hers. But in that moment i didn’t laugh with humour, nor shrug it off as insignificant; no, for the first time in my life, i knew Kimberly wasn’t joking.
Kimberly was my sister.
I didn’t know how many seconds had passed as we both stood motionless, facing each other, gazes never wavering.
‘Avery.’ She repeated as I dropped my faerie floss.
But before any more could happen, before anything could be fixed, be repaired; I was off in full sprint.
‘Avery! Wha-‘ I heard Meghann try to ask but I didn’t bother speaking.
But not a sound was ushered by Kimberly…I think she stood in shock at what was happening.
But I could think of no more thoughts of any matter, no, my feet were already taking me to somewhere far, somewhere distant.
I tried to manoeuvre my way around the thousands of people in which surrounded me but managed to shove a great deal of them.
People hissed in pain, children roared in rage, and a lot of them swore loudly at me. But I was almost completely oblivious to it all as my eyes were merely blurs, my body felt weak and vulnerable as my head spun wildly.
I didn’t really know for how long I had been running but when I realized my lungs couldn’t bear anymore, I stopped and looked around.
You could say I was out of Luna Park; in fact there was barely any civilization around me what-so-ever.
