Chapter 55

Caden was reaching a corner but stopped at the edge. He heard the sound of someone's shoes scuffing against the floor. It sounded like they were slowly walking. Like someone trying to sneak up on him. When they were close enough to the corner Caden leaned around and threw his fist toward the side of their face.

The person quickly put up their arm stopping the oncoming blow. The person threw their fist back in return but Caden caught their fist in his hand. He knocked their feet out from under them and Caden pulled out his handgun. He aimed it at the man on the floor. He finally got a look at the person. He was about an average hight man with brown hair and brown eyes. He looked scared.

"Who are you?" Caden asked calmly.

"I'm Anthony Thomason." The man said.

He stayed on his back, afraid of Caden.

"You called ARRO?" Caden asked, holstering his gun.

"Yes." Anthony confirmed.

Caden held his hand out to help him up.

"I'm agent Rogers." The man finally made eye contact with Caden.

He saw the relief on Anthony's face. He looked liked he was about twenty-years-old.

"Why are you here?" Caden asked, helping the man to his feet.

"I don't know." He replied.

"You don't know?" Caden was confused.

"I can't remember how I ended up here I just did." Anthony said.

Well Caden had no proof he was lying. Maybe someone knocked him out and brought him here.

"Have you seen anyone around here?" Caden wondered.

Anthony shook his head.

"No only you. I woke up here and panicked because I didn't know where I was, so I called ARRO." He explained.

Caden nodded. "Good. Don't worry we'll find a way out of here. I need to find my partner first." He told him.

"Do we really have time? We don't even know where we are." Anthony asked concerned.

"We can make time. I'm not leaving my partner here." Caden told him.

The subject was nonnegotiable. Anthony threw his hands up frustrated.

"Fine. Let's find her and get out of here then." Anthony said, starting the search.

Caden put his hand on Anthony's chest, stopping him from moving forward.

"Her?" Caden asked, narrowing his eyes at him.

Anthony just looked back at him confused.

"You said her. I never said my partner was a girl." Caden called him out.

Anthony smiled and tried to laugh off the situation.

"Look man I just assumed. Honest." He said putting his hand over his heart.

Perhaps Caden was just a bit paranoid.

"Ok." Caden believed him.

"I know where we could look." Anthony claimed.

Something felt wrong though.

"Where?" Caden hesitated to ask.

"I heard a loud noise coming from down this hall." Anthony said, looking back at the golden colored tile.
