Chapter 34

Caden looked everywhere for his keys today! There's really nothing unusual about Caden losing track of his keys but this time he really could not find them. Not wanting to be late Caden ran to work on foot. Luckily ARRO's HQ was not fair from his apartment building.

He walked through the front doors, stopping at the front desk to catch his breath and relax.

"You feeling alright Caden?" Daniella asked him.

After waiting a minute to catch his breath he replied.

"Just fine thanks." He assured her, giving her a thumbs up.

She then offered her normal smile that she gave him everyday. Caden gladly smiled back.

As if on cue Samantha showed up to work and walked through the doors. Ironic they showed up at the same time, especially since Caden was on foot today.

"Good morning Caden." Samantha greeted happily.

She walked up beside him and next to the counter like he was.

"Good morning Sam." He greeted back just as happy to see her.

Samantha looked at him and noticed how tired he looked even though he just showed up.

"You look tired." She stated almost confused at what he could be tired about at the start of the day.

"I had to run to work today, couldn't find my keys." He admitted with a shrug.

"Well I could've given you a lift." Samantha shook her head at him but continued to smile anyway.

"How about a ride home instead then?" Caden asked.

Samantha nodded and said, "Deal!"

The two agents then went to Samantha's office this time. Normally Caden's partner's spent time with him in his office but since they had spent so much time decorating hers he decided there was nothing wrong with changing things up once in awhile.

Caden grabbed a bottle of water from the break room before joining her in her office. Another agent was eating breakfast in there. He was not one Caden talked to often or honestly one he remembered the name of but he was better at remembering faces, not names.

They both said hello to each other but nothing more was said. Caden left the break room and started walking to Samantha's office.

He saw Anderson walking in a different direction than him so he stopped and turned toward him even though his back was turned.

"Anderson!" Caden called.

He kept walking without even glancing back but Caden knew he had heard him.

Caden narrowed his eyes at him even if he was not looking his way. His first thought was to follow him and apologize but he decided to keep going to Samantha's office instead. He could not remember the last time Anderson was this angry if even ever. He could not decide if he was sad or annoyed that Anderson ignored him, so he settled on both.

Caden knew Anderson cared about his agents as if everyone here was one big family. He knew it was hard for him if a worker was hurt, injured, or even killed on the job. So yes blaming him for Victoria's and Tammy's death was crossing the line but he did not mean it. He really did not think it was anyone's fault his.

Caden walked into Samanta's office calm and without a trace of being annoyed or upset about Anderson. He put on a smile for her because he did not want her worrying.

Later in the afternoon Samantha's office phone rang. Normally Anderson would call his office and if he did not answer then he would call Samantha's office. Expect lately it has been Dave calling Caden instead.
