Chapter 11

It has been a few days since Victoria's death. Caden was now getting ready for her funeral. He was sort of surprised when Addison, Victoria's sister, invited him.

He was sure they were going to be mad at him but they weren't. They were just as heartbroken as he was but they did not look for someone to blame. Normally people just look for people to blame when they lose a loved one and Caden was expecting that from them. Maybe they did at first but even if they did they don't anymore and haven't showed any sigh that they had before. They understood what happened. It was a rare unfortunate accident but they understood.

He never thought this was something he was going to have to attend. Caden still didn't want to believe his partner was gone. He put her necklace in his pocket just to keep it with him.

He drove toward the place it was being held and parked far from the door. There was a lot of cars here after all. Then it just occurred to him how much he would miss seeing Victoria's car parked at work. He was going to miss everything about her.

He walked inside to see the family already sitting on the front row. People talked to each other, some laughed, and some cried. He noticed a lot of soldiers dressed in uniform here. Caden walked over to where Victoria's sister was.

"I am so sorry for your loss." Caden told her.

She was to upset to try and smile. He could tell how much she had been crying lately. She had caught him off guard but she wrapped her arms around him tightly in a hug.

"It was your loss too. I am also sorry." She whispered to him.

A few silent tears streamed down his face as he hugged her back.

They let each other go. "Anderson wanted me to tell you he sends you his regards and he was sorry he could not make it." Cadend delivered the message.

"Tell him thank you. I know Victoria loved ARRO." She assured him.

Little Addison walked up to her aunt. She resembled Victoria in so many ways. She looked so much like her too. He sadly knelled down to her hight.

"Hi Addison." He greeted her.

The little girl wiped tears from her eyes and waved. Things just kept getting worse and worse. He just begged Addison didn't say anything about her mother not coming home. She was to little to understand death but she was old enough to know when mama doesn't come home.

Addison was dressed in a pretty white dress and Victoria's sister was dressed in a black one.

"Come here I'm sorry." Caden said with open arms.

The little girl let him hug her. When he let go she slightly smiled. He stood back up to talk to Addison.

"Are you taking care of her now?" Caden wondered.

"I am." She confirmed.

"That's good. I know your sister would have wanted that." Caden assured her.

"Thanks."

Caden walked up to Victoria's black coffin. There was a picture of her and who Caden could only assume was her husband. They both looked happy and the man was in his army uniform. Victoria was showing her bright white smile in the photo. He was going to miss seeing that smile on her.

He placed his hand on the coffin.

"I'm so sorry Tori. Thanks for being my partner." Caden said.

He knew she couldn't hear him but even saying this made him feel a bit better. It was a closed casket funeral and Caden wondered if it was because her body was in bad shape after the crash. Caden could not wonder that one thing. He kept himself from it. He had been trying to think positive but he never remembered it being this hard.
