  And things were only heading towards something very bright and great for you and your girlfriend. You proposed to Elena, and after being happily engaged for months, she took the next big step and suggested what was very well your childhood dream. She wanted to have a child with you, and god, you so badly wanted it too, so obviously you said yes when she suggested adopting a little baby girl. Elena knew you loved children, and how you wanted to be a mother one day, and therefore she wasn't so nervous when she asked if you'd like to be a mother with her. And it was exciting times, preparing the home you shared with Elena, and getting stuff done before you'd welcome a baby in the family.

  One of those things that you needed to do before, included telling Bonnie and Caroline who were both your best friends. You, Elena and them shared special friendship, and when you weren't alone with Elena, the two of you were with them. You told everything to them, did almost everything with them, so obviously when you and Elena were about to have a child, you went to Caroline and Bonnie first.

  "I just got off of the phone with Bon. She's going to Caroline's place, so let's go there", you smiled to Elena on a chilly January night, and put your phone in your backpocket while approaching your lover at the front door. She grabbed your hands, and pulled you closer, wrapping her arms around your waist as her lips found yours with ease and got tangled together like they were used to. Your smile was contagious, and both of you chuckled fondly while the kiss slowly fell apart and your lips disconnected as Elena's fingers tucked your hair behind your ear. With your hand still in hers, she opened the front door and led you outside where you and her walked to the car you shared.

  "I'm nervous. Are you?", Elena asked when you were both sitting in the car, listening to the indie rock album she bought for you on your anniversary. You looked over to her, and while interlocking your fingers, you nodded your head and gestured for her to start the car which she did as you breathed out heavily and leaned your head back.

  "I am", you started and stared at the ceiling, tapping your fingers against your knee along the intense song blasting through the speakers. "Very nervous. Of course. This is huge, sweetie", you chuckled and glanced at her, smiling widely, "but I want this. I want all of this, with you. I love you, Elena", and squeezed her hand reassuringly before she nodded and drove away from your house and towards Caroline's place.

  "I love you too", Elena answered with a huge smile pulling up her red lips, making you do the same while resting your head against the seat and enjoying the soft atmosphere and the comfortable silence between you and her, filled by the familiar tunes playing from the CD. You loved all of it, and you loved Elena. That was enough to convince you, make you feel courageous and want to do this, tell Caroline and Bonnie.

  You knew they wouldn't judge, if anything they'd do the complete opposite but it was still nerve-wracking, naturally. But with your future wife and the future mother of your child by your side, you could do anything.

  "So... we have some news. Big news", you kicked off the conversation after sitting down on Caroline's couch with Elena, opposite Bonnie and Caroline herself. From the way you and Elena were holding hands, and constantly glancing at each other, they could both tell something was going on and with each second they were growing more and more impatient, and very visibly too.

  "C'mon, what is it?", Caroline burst out, throwing out her hands and giving you a look that just begged for answers. You breathed out and broke into a happy smile, mirroring Elena's, and you both came to the conclusion that there was no need to hold back the surprise anymore, so you allowed her to speak up without further preparation.

  "We're going to adopt a baby", Elena let out, and squeezed your hand tightly. You nodded, confirming her words, and looked at your friends who both had their jaws dropped and their eyes wide, shocked - positively - by the news. Caroline jumped up, her blonde curls bouncing as she screamed and began pacing around the living room, overwhelmed but happy. Bonnie laughed, and gave you a fond smile while placing a hand on your knee, and nodding approvingly.

  "This is great. I'm happy for you", Bonnie spoke, and earned a smile from you and Elena. You rested your head on Elena's shoulder, and thanked Bonnie, but before you could talk more, Caroline interrupted. She jumped up and down, and held her face happily, just about to break into tears as she tried to comprehend the fact that her best friends were about to start a family.

  "Great? Are you kidding me, this is the best thing ever! I'm so happy for you, so happy, okay, I can't wait to go shopping for baby clothes and being her aunt-- Wait, you're going to make me her aunt, right? Right? And god, what will you name her? And does anyone else know yet? Oh my god I'm so happy", Caroline rambled, her hands shaking as she went on her knees and shook you from your shoulders. You couldn't help but laugh, but didn't have time to answer when she was already back on her feet and squealing as she ran around the apartment to release all the excitement.

  "So, are you really sure about this? I mean, I totally support it, but it looks like Caroline isn't going to be reasonable about this so someone has to", Bonnie grinned and gently nudged Elena with her elbow. The two of them started to talk, so you kissed Elena's cheek and then got up, wanting to search Caroline and calm her down.

  You wandered around for a while, but eventually found her on the floor of the kitchen, on her back, staring at the ceiling and breathing heavily. You joined her and went on your back, offering her a smile as you did and she returned it with a bunch of giggles slipping out of her mouth. You sighed, and asked if she was okay, to which she nodded her head and turned to look at her.

  "You guys have come so far. This is amazing, Y/N", Caroline spoke, and sat up to pull you up too so she could hug you. She wrapped her arms around you, and that was when all the tears arrived and rolled down to your cheeks while holding Caroline in your arms as she held you.

  "I know. Thanks, for all the support, Care", you sighed and closed your eyes.

  "Always, Y/N", she just replied.

  That was it. You just sat there with her, hugging and crying, until Elena came to get you and it was time for you to go home and sleep so you'd find the power to get more things done the next day. When you reached your house, you didn't leave the car, instead you stayed in and went for a kiss with Elena. It was sweet and loving, just as always. You spent minutes, lots of them, just talking in the car and going through everything that had happened and would happen.

  "So... A little baby girl, huh", you smiled and crossed your legs as you took a better position on the front seat. Elena chuckled fondly, and cupped your cheeks to pull you closer and to press her lips softly onto yours. You closed your eyes, and enjoyed the kiss until it broke and Elena nodded her head slowly.

  "You're my baby girl", she breathed, "but yes, a little baby to take care of... Like we've always wanted", and flashed you a grin.

  "I love you", you whispered and she whispered the same three words before kissing you again, this time more intensely but you didn't complain, of course. It was perfect, just like everything else had been so far.

  And so, you got married, you got a child, and eventually a job that paid you well - your dreams came true. You were happy, and as long as you had Elena, you'd always be.
