Mr Ford got to the front to address everyone.

‘OK everyone, we’ve reached our destination. Now, if you will all look to your timetables, they are the events in which we will proceed at during the next five days. Today we will all have a couple of hours to get adjusted in our hotel rooms. After that, you may hang around at the beach as long as a teacher accompanies you. After that, we will proceed to dinner in the Hotels cafeteria. After that, we will do a head count before everyone is to make their rooms. Curfew is by nine. The only rotation in our events, as you see, is between the beach and Luna Park. Every second day, Tuesday and Thursday, we will all go to Luna Park. On those days, we are to meet at breakfast and then, together, walk to the Ferry and ride to our destination. We are allowing six hours there, depending on the weather. On the last day, it will be breakfast and then packing your things before we leave. Now, understood?’ he concluded as he looked around at everyone.

We all nodded eagerly before he led the way to the hotel.

It was huge. Huge but beautiful.

‘Everyone choose a partner, that person will be your “buddy” and you will share a room with them and also make sure you are always with them so you don’t get easily lost. Same gender please.’ Mr Parker said.

Me and Meghann instantly looked at each other and smiled.

‘Sorry Kiren.’ We both apologized.

Kiren was about to respond when a guy I had seen around before walked up to him.

‘Don’t have a partner, mind being mine?’ he asked nicely.

‘Uh, yeah, sure.’ Kiren smiled back.

You could tell this was the beginning of a good friendship.

‘Oh, Ashton, Ashton Palmer.’ He said as he held out his hand.

‘Well hey, Kiren Jones.’ Kiren replied as they shook hands.

Meghann and I looked at each other with satisfied look.

Ashton then turned and looked at us. ‘Hey.’ He said.

‘Meghann.’ Meghann said as she examined him closely.

‘Avery Blake.’ I said.

‘Oh, yeah, I’ve heard about you…’ he said before he could stop himself.

‘Oh, I’m sorry-‘ he tried to say.

‘No, it’s OK.’ I kindly smiled.

Relief passed over him.

Ashton had shoulder length brown hair. He was relatively slim but a bit built. He wore black skinny-jean and a white/greying V-neck.

He was really good looking but also had an edge to him. But I could tell he wouldn’t turn out like Corbin.

And this guy wasn’t new; he had been here for as long as I could remember, I just never had the chance to talk to him.

But he seemed quite interested in Meghann.

Meghann and I then chose a room, second last in the hallway. Kiren and Ashton chose the one across the hall.

Once Meghann and I shot-gunned our preferred beds, we slowly unpacked.

‘I brought heaps of movies!’ Meghann eagerly said.

‘Trust you.’ I shook my head.

‘Of course.’

There was a knock on the door before Ms Fletcher came in.
