‘No, because my mum would get so worried and I couldn’t tell her because she’s just got over my dad dying, it would kill her. And I’m sure she’s having fun with her husband somewhere around the world.’

‘Well I’m here for you if you need me, you know.’

‘T-thanks…look after Avery.’

‘That would be difficult but I’ll try.’

He tried to ask why but I waved it off and told him he had somewhere to be and warned him off the drug addiction. He said he was only using them as an escape and he was over them.

Once Kiren left, I broke out in tears.

If anyone saw me, I wouldn’t hear the end of it.

Avery Blake’s POV

It was now Saturday and Meghann and I were sitting at the Cafeteria sipping Milkshakes.

‘Mwy Cwunt Twait.’ Meghann tried to say.

‘Maybe swallow before you try to talk.’ I giggled.

Meghann smirked as she dramatically swallowed her Milkshake, making sure to make a gulping sound at the end.

‘Satisfied?’ she asked.

‘Very.’ I giggled.

‘What I was trying to say was that I can’t wait for the trip.’

‘I know.’ I agreed.

‘We so have to plan out what we’re going to wear!’ Meghann said as she jumped up for enjoy at that realization.

‘Joy.’ I smirked.

‘I’ve never been to Luna Park.’

‘Me neither.’

And the conversation continued in that direction before Meghann looked behind me with a strange look ‘What the heck is going on over there.’ She said.

‘Huh?’ I asked as I turned around and saw Naomi and Kimberly having a heated argument.

‘I’m pretty sure they just said your name.’ Meghann said.

And I’m pretty sure they said it more than once. ‘Wait here.’ I said in frustration as I stood up.

‘Avery, what are you doing?’ Meghann whispered. I waved it off as I approached them.

‘She needs to know Kimberly!’ Naomi hissed.

‘I need to know what?’ I asked as I reached them, trying to keep my expression neutral.

Kimberly cursed under her breath as Naomi put a hand through her hair. ‘Nothing sweetie.’ Naomi tried to cover up.

‘You’re my counselor Naomi, I thought you said I could trust you a.k.a you won’t lie to me!’ I said hysterically.

‘Avery, it’s my fault, not hers.’ Kimberly said.

‘Oh no, I’m not doubting that for a moment.’

I swear Kimberly blushed as she stepped back and looked away.

‘Avery, be reasonable.’ Naomi said.

‘Aside from being as unreasonable as I am now? No, you guys are the ones being unreasonable. You’re arguing about me in front of the whole school and then you expect me to rational about it. What are you guys keeping from me and what’s the connection between the two of you?’
