Part Three

'And you're sure about this?' Taehyung asked nervously as he sat across from a social worker.

'Mr Kim,' the social worker began, 'The DNA tests are correct, there's no mistake, sir.'

Taehyung sat back in his chair and exhaled loudly, glancing at the two twins sitting in the hallway with their backpacks. One boy, and one girl.

Why didn't she tell me?

His eyebrows furrowed and his head swirled, although he was excited to take on the kids, he was still in shock and disbelief.

'Mr Kim, if you feel as though you are unfit to care for them then they will have to stay in a foster home or be put up for adoption.'

Taehyung shook his head and sat up in his chair, 'No, no,' he stuttered, 'I will take care of them, I can take care of them.'

The social worker smiled, 'Good. Your records are clean, and the examination of your home came up clean also,' the social worker stood up, 'Kim Taehyung you are officially a father.'

Taehyung stood up with a smile, not knowing what taking upon two kids will do to his career and life.

I'm a father.

But Alli...where are you?

Taehyung helped the children into the backseat of his truck and smiled awkwardly back to them.

'Are you ready?' Taehyung forced a smile, his voice shook with obvious nerves.

Taekwon nodded and looked over to his sister Taegeuk who glared with worried eyes at Taehyung.

'You look so much like your mother,' Taehyung whispered with his eyes on Taegeuk, 'and me!' He grinned.

The two children stayed silent, Taehyung sighed and started the truck engine.

The ride home was quiet and the air between them was still, unmoving, and awkward.

Taehyung opened the doors for them, they were wary and watched Taehyung as they got out.

'Welcome home.' Taehyung said with a smile as he walked to the door with them behind him.

He unlocked the door and walked inside, Taekwon and Taegeuk stayed standing outside.

'Where's our mom?' Taekwon asked as he gripped his sisters hand.

Taehyung sighed and shook his head, 'I don't know, I'm sorry.'

'Are you our real dad?' Taekwon asked.

Taegeuk let go of his hand and stepped inside, staring at Taehyung, nodding.

'You...' She began, 'you're the boy in the pictures, aren't you?'

Taehyung looked down at her small face, he saw a glimmer of Alli in her and couldn't help but smile, 'What pictures?'

Taegeuk pulled off her backpack and unzipped it, pulling out a white box.

Taehyungs heart was struck awry and thumped hard against his chest. It can't be.

'Taegeuk!' Taekwon yelled, 'that's moms! Don't let him see it!' He still refused to enter the house.

'It's okay,' Taegeuk sat on the floor and opened the box, Taehyung sat down in front of her and folded his legs.

'He's the boy in the photos.' She smiled up at Taehyung as she poured out all the photos Alli and Taehyung had taken, ten years ago.

Taehyung couldn't help but cover his mouth as his eyes began to fill with tears.

'This is you, isn't it?' Taegeuk whispered and looked up at Taehyung as she held an old photograph of Alli and Taehyung.

Taehyung held back his tears and gently took the photo from her small hands and nodded.

'Yeah,' he whispered, 'this is me.'

Taegeuk glimmered a smile up at Taehyung, watching his expression change and his mouth curl to a smile.

'She talked about you a lot,' Taegeuk began, 'well, at least to me.'

Taehyung sniffed and put the photo down, glancing at them all before standing up.

'Put them away,' Taehyung said as he ran his fingers through her hair, 'come inside, Taekwon.'

Taekwon stood there with stubborn and unwilling eyes.

'Come on, Taekwon,' Taegeuk said with a smile as she quickly piled the photos together.

'He's our daddy!'
