CHAPTER 38.1 Final Assessment

Venetiani Cottage

I SLOWLY opened my eyes as the sunlight started to peek from the window. Medyo nakakaramdam pa rin ako ng konting hilo dulot ng nangyari sa training kahapon. I never thought that Zenrie-chan could take those blows and just hit me in just a snap. Parang nandoon pa rin ang inis niya sa bawat atake.

After getting up, I went to the bathroom to wash my face and fix my messy bed hair before going out. Habang naglalakad papuntang kusina, Emmie greeted me with her usual energetic smile.

"Goooood morniiiing!" Emmie greeted while setting the fried rice aside to cook the viand.

"Morning," I greeted while my voice was a bit groggy. I scanned the surroundings and noticed her presence wasn't there.

"Hanap mo si Riri?" My brows raised. "Tulog pa rin siya. Napagod yata sa training kahapon. Yung babaeng 'yon talaga...kailangan niya ring magpahinga. Abugbog pa naman katawan n'on."

"Abugbog?"

"Basta! Napagod katawan niya sa training kahapon," Emmie took a sigh and looked at me with her squinted eyes. "Alam mo, minsan hindi mo nagegets yung modernized terminologies. Parang nasa 2600 years ago ka yata eh."

Minsan siguro nagiging outdated na ako sa mga ganyan. I'm not interested in learning those things.

"Can I check on her?" Tanong ko na agad nagpaaangat ng kanyang mga balikat. She took a pause and turned to me again.

Emmie froze for a moment and was about to speak.

"Uh...si Riri kasi..."

"Fine then. I'll take it as a yes."

I lifted my head high and curled a small smile on my lips while leaving her in the kitchen. Naririnig ko pa rin ang protesta niya pero hindi ko pinakinggan. She's like a cat yapping.

Hindi na ako nagdalawang-isip na pumasok sa kwarto nila. With a confident aura surrounding me, I walk closer to Zenrie-chan who's sleeping peacefully.

"Zenrie-chan, it's already morning," mahinang bati ko.

Just as I flipped the blanket, I took a pause and refrained from laughing. What did I just witness?

Zenrie-chan sleeps peacefully with a huge mass of beauty and grace...and a hint of being an adorable little girl cuddling with a teal finch plushie.

"Kawaii (Cute)..." I uttered under my breath as I'm still trying not to laugh or mess up. She's even scarier when someone disturbs her beauty sleep.

"Hoy Jairus! Bakit ka ba-" natigilan ako bigla nang biglang kinalabit ni Zoiren ang aking balikat, dahilan upang mapalingon ako agad.

"Quiet, will you?!" I stared at Zoiren with narrow eyes and smacked his nape. May lahi ba 'tong kabute?

Zoiren rolled his eyes and crossed his arms. Then, he took a sudden freeze when he saw Zenrie-chan cuddling with a teal green finch plushie.

"Mukhang alam ko na ang sikreto ni Zenrie," Zoiren snickered as he was about to poke her arm but swiftly halted him- slapping his hand. "Aray!"

"Ayaw mo naman sigurong masipa palabas ng cottage, hindi ba?" I crossed my arms and narrowed my stares towards him.

He shook his head. Napasama pa tuloy ang tingin sa'kin matapos ko lang mapagsabihan. Minsan din talaga gusto niyang buwisitin si Zenrie kahit wala naman siyang ginagawa.
