I was evaluation whether or not I should go in. But I knew I couldn’t go in because of all the new factors preventing me like the psychics readings. But I couldn’t walk away either as he was my boyfriend…
And just when I was about to click play on my iPod and keep running… the decision was made for me as I heard the door click and Cole came out but stopped as he noticed me.
‘Avery?’ he asked, sounding genuinely shocked.
‘Uh… hi.’ I said as I put a hand through my hair.
‘What are you doing here? I-I uhh… haven’t seen you since-‘ he trailed off.
I sighed ‘I couldn’t sleep… I had a nightmare so I decided to go for a run.’ I said as I avoided the other part of his speech.
He came up to me and picked me up and kissed me. I sank into the kiss as I placed my arms around his neck and I folded my feet behind his butt.
We then placed our foreheads against each other. ‘I love you.’ He said sweetly.
‘Uhh… I love you too but can you put me down?’ I asked just as sweetly with a smirk.
‘Ahh sorry.’ He chuckled as he placed my feet back on the ground.
‘I’ve missed you.’ He announced.
‘Cole, I’ve missed you too.’ I said as he took my hand in his and held it. ‘I’m sorry I made you sweaty.’
He chuckled his handsome laugh again. ‘It was worth it though…’
‘Touché.’
‘What have you been up to? I saw you signed out with Meghann yesterday. What did you girls do?’ he asked, more to try and progress the conversation and less to be nosy.
I dropped my head. ‘N-nothing…’ I lied.
‘Avery, don’t lie to me. I hate lying and being on the receiving side of the lie. I thought we were going to be truthful.’
I looked back up to him and met his gorgeous eyes. ‘I-we were at a psychic reading…’
‘Oh… what did you uhh hear?’ he asked.
‘So, you, uh, believe in that stuff?’
‘Y-yeah.’ He said with a nervous laugh.
‘I never placed you as that kind of guy.’ I aid with a smile.
‘My neighbour in England was a Gypsy of sorts or as one could be in our modern world. I guess she was more a Fortune Teller than a gypsy as she had a home and a nice one at that. She lived well but I think she had been referred to being a gypsy because of her love and passion for her culture and background. She was a kind lady in her early 50s and she would always invite me over to her house. She was one of my father’s closest friends.’
I smiled.
‘Why are you smiling?’ he asked with a smirk.
‘Because I love hearing about your past.’
Cole then sighed. ‘Avery, you know I would love hearing about your past too but, well… it would be hard for you which means it would have a strong effect on me making it harder for me also.’
‘Well, I guess you could always come to one of my counselling sessions; if you really wanted.’
‘No, I think that would be very suspicious…’
‘Then why don’t we sit down one day and just talk and laugh and cry about each other’s past’s… I don’t mind as long as I have you there to hold my hand.’ I finished with a kind smile.
‘Sounds like a plan honey.’
‘So anyway, what were you doing leaving your cabin at… 7:30?’
‘I couldn’t sleep either… I was actually going to go see you.’
I smiled at him thoughtfully as I well and truly loved him.
‘Oh… did you want to come in?’ he asked.
‘Um, if you don’t mind.’
He lifted me up and I yelped in surprise. Cole then took me into his cabin as he shut the door with his foot on the way in. He dumped me on top of the bed as he got on all fours on top of me. He leaned down and kissed my neck and worked his way up until he found my mouth.
‘Cole… i-need-to-use-the-bathroom’ I tried to say between kissed.
‘Well that ruined the moment.’ He said as he playfully pouted.
‘Whatever.’ I spoke as I pushed my palms against his chest. He immediately got off me and I quickly rushed to the bathroom.
Once I returned; Cole was sitting on the bed as his eyes followed me.
‘So… what do you want to do now?’ I asked.
‘Avery, being in your company is enough for me.’ He said as he flashed his pearly whites at me.
I stood at his knees, looking down at him.
I raised one of my eyebrows ‘Naw, well aren’t you the cutest.’ I said sarcastically.
‘Wow, did it really take you that long to notice?’
I shook my head at him as I decided to sit down next to him.
‘Let’s just sit here and talk… I want to hear your voice and hear more about your day yesterday.’ Cole said.
‘OK.’ I said nervously as my body strained.
‘Did something happen, Avery?’ he asked, sounding concerned.
‘No… not really… maybe… yes!’ I confessed.
‘Well at least you didn’t lie. But being serious, what happened?’
‘W-well there was actually quite a lot that happened. I had a run in with Kimberly in the morning after my Counselling session. I told Erik and Meghann about Kimberly. The psychic reading freaked me out and lastly, I found something out… about Meghann.’ I said, letting out a breath at the end of the mouth-full.
‘I’m not going to ask what happened with Kimberly as I guessing it would be the same old. Please correct me if I’m wrong though. And it was good that you told them; and also completely your decision. And I think any believer could have told you that they usually do freak people out. And I’m sure you will be there for Meghann with whatever she told you.’
I looked at him in awe as I didn’t think there was any person like him who could solve all that in such a short period of sentences.
‘Thank you.’ I said.
‘No problem.’
I looked at Cole and saw a distinct distress in his features.
‘Cole?’ I asked.
He looked away ‘It’s nothing.’ He lied.
‘Cole… I thought we weren’t lying to each-other anymore.’
‘I’m sorry Avery but i-I just don’t think you want to hear it.’
‘And how would you know that? Can you read my mind or something?’
‘OK, I will tell you but once I do, just don’t hate me or blame me if you don’t like what you hear.’
‘Fair enough.’ I said, preparing myself.
‘OK well… yesterday… I knew you were gone and I was extremely bored so I was just walking around and I heard some laughing and other stuff… so I followed the sound and I ended up in the furthest part of school; where the parties are usually held. I saw a couple of kids there and they were um… smoking pot and having some spliff and marijuana.’
‘Crap-‘ I said ‘-but what’s that got to do with me?’
‘Kiren was amongst the group.’
