As the evening sun painted the sky in shades of orange and gold, Frank sat atop the hill overlooking Camp Jupiter, his heart pounding in his chest. He had been waiting for this moment, rehearsing his words over and over in his mind, yet now that Hazel was approaching, his courage seemed to falter. His thoughts were a whirlwind of nerves and uncertainty as he glanced out at the familiar sight of Camp Jupiter below, trying to calm his racing heart.

His mind buzzed with a thousand thoughts, each more tangled than the last. How should he approach this? Would she even want to be his girlfriend? What if she said no? Frank's usual confidence, bolstered by years of training and leadership, seemed to vanish in the face of this one question.

Suddenly, a voice interrupted his spiralling thoughts. "Well, well, well. Look at my son, the mighty Praetor, nervous as a mouse in a lion's den.", a presence beside him made him startle. Mars, his father, stood there, his figure imposing against the backdrop of the setting sun. Frank's muscles tensed automatically, a mix of wariness and curiosity swirling within him.

"Dad?" Frank blurted out, trying to keep the annoyance out of his voice, Frank asked "What are you doing here?"

Mars chuckled, a deep rumble that echoed across the hill. "Just thought I'd offer my dear son some fatherly advice. After all, I've got plenty of experience in matters of love and war."

Frank shifted uncomfortably, unsure of how to respond. Romantic love was a foreign concept to him, something he'd never quite understood. But now, with Hazel by his side, everything felt different.

Mars settled beside him, the evening breeze ruffling his military attire. "So, what's on your mind, Frank? Love, huh?"

Frank shifted uncomfortably, struggling to put his feelings into words. "It's... Hazel," he began, his voice betraying his uncertainty. "I want to ask her something, but I'm not sure how."

"Listen, Frank," Mars said, his tone surprisingly earnest. "Love is a battlefield, just like war. You've got to be bold, take risks, and fight for what you want. And remember, sometimes the greatest victories come from the smallest acts of courage."

Frank hesitated, unsure whether to trust his father's counsel. But something in Mars' expression softened, a rare glimmer of paternal concern flickering in his fiery gaze. Maybe there was more to Mars than just the god of war.

Taking a deep breath, Frank nodded, feeling a newfound resolve stirring within him. "Thanks, Dad," he said, surprising himself with the sincerity in his own voice. Mars gave him a nod, a hint of pride in his gaze.

As Mars disappeared into thin air, leaving Frank alone on the hill once more, a sense of determination settled over him. He took a deep breath, his nerves still tingling with anticipation.

And then, just as the first stars began to twinkle in the evening sky, Hazel appeared on the hill, her smile lighting up the darkness.

"Hey, Frank," she said, a small smile playing at the corners of her lips. "Mind if I join you?"

Frank shook his head, gesturing for her to sit beside him. "Of course not, Hazel. I was just... thinking."

Hazel settled onto the grass beside him, her gaze drifting out over the camp below, a light glow from all the torches lit her face. Frank felt his heart skip a beat as he looked at her, his doubts melting away in the glow of her presence.

For a moment, they sat in companionable silence, the only sound the soft rustle of the breeze through the trees. But Frank couldn't keep the question at bay any longer. Taking a deep breath, he turned to Hazel, his heart pounding in his chest.

"Hazel," he began, his voice surprisingly steady, "There's something I've been wanting to ask you."

Hazel's eyes widened in surprise, her expression curious yet hopeful. "What is it?"

Frank took a deep breath, summoning all his courage as he met her gaze. "I know we've been through a lot together, and I've realized something. I... I really like you. Like, a lot. And I was wondering if... if you'd maybe want to be my girlfriend?"

For a moment, there was silence, the air thick with anticipation. And then, to Frank's relief and joy, a smile broke across Hazel's face, radiant and beautiful. "Frank Zhang," she said, her voice soft but filled with emotion. "I'd love to be your girlfriend."

Relief flooded through Frank, washing away the tension and uncertainty that had gripped him moments before. He couldn't help but return Hazel's smile, feeling lighter than he had in ages.

In that moment, their eyes met, and without a word, they leaned in, their lips meeting in a passionate kiss. It was a moment of pure bliss, a culmination of years of friendship and shared experiences.

As they pulled away, breathless and smiling, Hazel couldn't help but tease him gently. "I thought you'd never ask," she said, a playful glint in her eyes.

Frank chuckled, his heart swelling with love for this incredible girl beside him. "Well, I wanted to make sure it was the right moment," he replied, his voice soft but filled with sincerity.

In that sweet moment, it was almost like he could hear his dad whisper into his ear, "Just remember, son. Love may be a battlefield, but it's a battle worth fighting." And as they sat together on the hill, basking in the glow of their newfound relationship, Frank knew that he had made the right choice.
