Chapter 26: Shadow regained

I was stormed with hugs and reassurance from the team it was real all the way back to the tower. Loki was protective as I had expected him to be, it was nice. I missed all of them so very much. My heart tugged when I was unable to see them and looking at the damage I had done to them I had to tuck the relentless tear back down. I would cry later.

"Darling" I looked up at loki

"Come on, lets get you freshened up" his warm honey like smile was sent to me. Nodding I followed loki into my old bedroom.

"I will be right back you sit here" and gestured to the bed. He disappeared into my bathroom running a hot bath for me to get clean and relaxed in. I waited for a minute before loki had appeared to drag me over to the bath. I lingered in the bath trying to get rid of anything that could be anything related to Hydra, you flinched at those words.

He led me to the living room after my bath, an inviting space bathed in warm hues and adorned with plush furnture. The scent of a home-cooked meal wafted through the air.

"Sit, Wisty," Loki gestured toward the island in the kistchen, a spread of dishes that hinted at both familiarity and indulgence. "You've been through much, and a good meal will do wonders to restore your strength."

I hesitated, feeling a bit unsure. The idea of being cared for was new, unlike the routines and meal schedules at Hydra. I thought time passed quickly at Hydra because simple things felt unfamiliar, like watching others do their normal routine. Loki, however, stayed patient, his eyes getting softer, as if understanding the balance between the past and the present.

As I settled into the comfy chair, the smell of the meal wrapped around me like a warm hug. Loki, moving smoothly and showing both playfulness and genuine care, put a variety of dishes on a plate.

With a tentative but determined face, I picked up the fork. The flavors that danced on my palate. Loki watched, a silent guardian, as I took each bite, savoring the taste on my tongue.

Tony strutted over as well as the god of thunder him self Thor rounding the corner too. I unexpectedly found myself face to face with Thor, his towering presence and majestic demeanor reminiscent of the figures that once intimidated me within Hydra's walls. The grip on my heart tightened, and an involuntary flinch rippled through me. The memories of harsh training sessions and the looming threat of punishment surged to the forefront.

Thor extended a hand, a gesture meant to bridge the gap between past and present. "We mean you no harm, Wisty. You are safe now, we will not let them take you away from us again."

I hesitated, eyes locked with his, grappling with the conflict between ingrained fear and the reality before me. Slowly, cautiously, I extended my hand to meet his shaking it. The warmth of his grasp dispelled the residual chill of Hydra's influence, grounding me in the present.

Thor, ever perceptive, noticed my unease. His eyes, filled with both compassion and the weight of countless battles, softened as he addressed me. "Wisty, fear not. You are among your family now."

His voice, a rumble that echoed with both authority and gentleness, sought to reassure me. I swallowed hard, trying to dispel the echoes of Hydra's conditioning.

I closed my eyes and reopened them to find a smile on thor and lokis face, their expressions are a gentle reminder to me again, that I was safe.

"Darling" I flinched still scared out of my whits, I was on a after effect of hydra and could not be blamed for my actions and reactions on accord of what had happened.

"Time for bed, you need all rest you can" I reached out to loki's soft cold hands, his fingers encircled my hand and engulfed my small palms. I was gently pulled to my bedroom.

I slipped into a pair of green silky Pj's that Loki had given me. I trusted loki, not to say that I wasn't scared that I would hurt him at any given moment do to the fact that I been mind colroled.

"You wont hurt me love" His words floated into an angery and scared minded women.

"YOU DONT KNOW THAT" I screamed in his face,

"I could lose control and hurt you or the others and I would never forgive myself. I would never be able to live with myself knowing I hurt any of you." Tears started to well in my eyes as I stared into Lokis soul.

"I cant lose you to my other self, the evil one" I telepathically whispered to him.

His face shifted, a soft look settled on his kind and handsome face. He reached over, even as I flinched and cupped my face.

"You could never hurt me" and kissed my cheek. I was quiet after that. I had nothing left, I was tarrifyed of turning into that thing again.

"Bed" he said softly. I climbed into my white sheeted bed and curled into a ball, my eyes, drooping from lack of sleep.

"Good night, Wit" Loki said turning and leaving quietly out of my room.

A nightmare followed me through my sleep and tormented me as I tried to get shut eye.

My dreams became a battleground where the echoes of manipulation and fear sought to reclaim their hold. The room, once a sanctuary, became a theater for the nightmares that had long been suppressed.

In the depths of the night, the nightmare seized me, dragging me back to the echoing corridors of Hydra. The weight of the sleek Hydra uniform, the gleam of daggers, and the ominous shadows pressed upon me. The faces of my friends and Loki contorted in pain as I, under the cruel puppetry of Hydra, became a force of harm.

I awoke with a start, the echoes of my own screams ringing in my ears. Tears streaked down my cheeks, and the whited sheets clung to me like a lifeline in the wake of the nightmare.

A gentle knock echoed through the room, and the door creaked open to reveal Loki, his eyes searching mine with an understanding. Without a word, he crossed the room and sat beside me on the bed. His touch, a comforting warmth, grounded me in the present.

"It was just a dream, Wisty," Loki whispered, his voice a soothing balm to the residual tremors of fear. "You're safe now. They can't hurt you here."

I nodded, the weight of the nightmare slowly lifting in the wake of Loki's reassurance. His arms enveloped me in a protective embrace, offering a refuge from the lingering darkness. We sat together, a silent communion against the haunting specters of the past.

As the night continued, Loki's comforting place next to me became a steadfast anchor. He spoke words of care and safety, sharing tales of realms far removed from the nightmares that sought to ensnare me, distracting me from my hurt brain. His fingers traced gentle patterns on my back, an unspoken promise that he was there, a guardian against the terrors that threatened to haunt me.

Eventually, exhaustion took its toll, and we found solace in shared vulnerability. The whited sheets became a cocoon, shielding us from the night's lingering shadows. Curled in each other's grip, both of us drifted into a restful sleep. Leaving the nightmares to dissipate.

The room, once a battlefield of fears and memories, transformed into a haven where the echoes of the night were replaced by the soft hum of shared dreams. The ethereal glow persisted, casting a warm embrace over Loki and me, united in the quiet triumph of finding comfert in each other's arms.
