It had been a tumultuous two days since those unexpected words tumbled out of P'Yin's mouth. The weight of his "I love you" lingered heavily, an unspoken thread connecting us in a way I wasn't prepared for. I hadn't replied and couldn't find the right words to address the sudden confession.

Then, P'Yin's health had taken a precarious turn. The high fever had persisted for two days now. I hadn't had an opportunity to inquire about those pills he had been taking as my focus shifted to take care of him. I became his caregiver, ensuring he ate, summoning the doctor despite his feeble protests and doing everything within my power to nurse him back to health.

As the soup simmered on the stove, my thoughts oscillated between P'Yin's health and the unanswered confessed that hung between us.

P'Yin really said he loves me...

Carrying the soup upstairs, I saw P'Yin lying on the bed. I then helped him to half lay as I wanted to feed him the soup. Feeding him spoonfuls of warmth, I couldn't help but keep expressing my concern.

"If P'Yin's health doesn't improve by tomorrow, we have to go to the hospital," I urged, recalling his initial reluctance to seek medical help and he even prevented me from telling his parents because he didn't want them to worry.

"I will be fine, War. It's nothing...seriously," he assured me.

A soft sigh escaped me. "Stop being stubborn, P'Yin. I-"

A faint smile played on his lips as he interrupted, "I'm happy when I see you worried about me."

His words tugged at my heartstrings. Of course, I'm worried...I always will be...

"P'Yin are acting silly," I muttered in a low tone.

He let out a low chuckle and suddenly held my hand. His sudden touch, warm against my hand sent a flush of warmth to my cheeks.

"Thank you because take care of me and I'm sorry for troubling you," he said.

I bowed my head and slowly nodded. "It's okay," I replied, almost whispering.

P'Yin held my chin, which allowed my eyes to meet him. "War," he began.

My heart skipped a beat. In fact, it beat like crazy...

His eyes bore into mine as he spoke, "I never meant to burden you with my feelings. I know I dropped a bombshell with those three words but I couldn't keep it to myself any longer. I love you, War, more than I ever thought possible."

The weight of his confession hung in the air once again but this time, I found the courage to respond. "P'Yin, I...I don't know what to say," I said, my emotions a tangled mess.

"You don't have to say anything right now. I just needed you to know. Whatever happens, I will always love you. I know I have been a coward in the past and I hurt you so badly but it will never happen again, War. I don't want to lose you anymore and I will keep telling you that I love you. Every single day," he said.

Silence.

"Phi-P'Yin needs to finish the soup," I deflected, attempting to change the topic.

P'Yin offered a gentle smile. The spoon I held hovered in the air and P'Yin leaned forward, accepting the spoon. As he tasted the soup, our eyes remained locked, dancing around unspoken feelings that I tried to bury deep inside my heart...

A FEW DAYS LATER

"It has been a few days and you haven't replied to my messages at all, War. Are you really okay?" P'Earth's voice resonated with genuine concern as we spoke over the call, reconnecting after days of unintentional silence on my part.
