The Point of No Return {sequel to The Arbitrary life of Avery Blake [teacher]}2

Start from the beginning

This is kiss was different from our previous ones from this day as it was unbelievably soft and gentle. ‘Is she a better kisser?’ I asked out of curiosity as he gave me a confused look and furrowed his eyebrows as it almost looked like he did a double take.

‘Avery… no, we are not talking about this…’ he said as he put a hand through his sleek, brown hair.

‘Is she a better kisser?’ I asked again, holding my ground.

‘No.’ he said softly.

‘You have to say that... you’re my boyfriend.’

He smirked ‘I do not want to be rude but your description of her matches her and her kissing to the most prosiest of points.’ And with that he fell back against the back, leaving his firm stomach poking out ‘But enough of that horrid discussion… I’m awfully tired, I do not know about you babe.’

I fell on top of him as my hands went to his chest. I poked my tongue out at him before replying ‘Slut… yeah you can say it… slut, slut, slut… anyways, oh gosh I really am quite tired… but babe, seriously?’ I asked, still laying on top of him playfully; forgetting about my nakedness.

‘Come on, enough… bed now.’ He said with a wink as he moved me off of him, with the little effort I was giving him of course.

‘Close your eyes.’ I demanded.

‘Why?’ he asked with yet another smirk playing on his face.

‘Because I’m going to go get changed and I suggest you follow my lead and do the same.’

He groaned ‘but why… it’s not like I haven’t s-‘ he tried to say as I cut him off ‘Cole!’ I said desperately.

‘I was joking… but I don’t know why you are so self-conscious Avery… you’re beautiful!’

I blushed at his words as I grabbed a sheet and stood up.

20 minutes later and I was showered and changed and snuggled in next to Cole in his comfortable bed.

I fell asleep without any hesitation and awoke to a loud knocking on the door.

I groaned out loud as I heard Cole do the same before he arose from the bed, pecking my lips on the way, before he peeked out the peek hole and slapped his forehead.

‘Who is it?’ I whispered.

‘Kimberly.’ He said flatly.

‘What does she want?’ I said angrily.

‘Coming!’ he shouted before turning towards me and speaking ‘Avery… go hide in the bathroom until she leaved, just in case she enters.’

I nodded slowly before furiously arising from the bed and marching towards the bathroom where I shut the door behind me. I put my ear to the door and began to listen.

Kimberly Fletcher’s POV

‘Yes?’ Cole asked as he opened the door with a flat look.

‘Can I come in?’ I asked sweetly but made sure to put a sad look to my eyes.

‘Kimberly… it’s 9 ‘o’clock in the bloody morning… a Saturday morning at that.’ He said tiredly.

‘Was I interrupting?’

‘Yes… my sleep.’

‘Oh I’m sorry… I just wanted to talk to you about the other day.’

He groaned as he moved aside and I entered with a little more sway to my walk than usual.

The first thing I noticed about his room was the pink ballet flats on the ground… They looked familiar. I inspected the room further as my suspicions were greatly intended.

‘Talk.’ Cole announced as he walked up to about a couple of feet away from me. I sighed and put on a façade ‘Look Cole… I’m sorry. I know I’ve been harsh to not only Avery but also you. And I just wanted to say that I really am sorry… about everything and also yesterday… I acted as though I was a child.’

‘You should be sorry. Avery has been through so much in her life lately and you are making everything harder for her! You do not understand how hard her life is and she needs all the support she can get. And as for me… I did not deserve any of this. You are putting me in such an awkward position. I do not like you in that way and you must understand Kimberly, I am sorry. But if you were not so completely rude and obnoxious to Avery and you didn’t act like you owned me then maybe there would be a vacant spot for a friendship… but I highly doubt any better of you would shine through after everything.’ My heart dropped as the words left his mouth. He put a hand through his before looking up and meeting my embarrassed eyes. A heavy blush spread its way over my face.

‘Um, I truly do not know what to say about all of this.’ I said as I sat at the edge of his bed and rested my hands in my hair as my elbows were on my knees. I inhaled and exhaled quite deeply as I tried to keep my fading cool.

‘I’m sorry… I shouldn’t have said it so harshly but you would not have listened to me if I hadn’t.’

I let out a shaky sigh as I stood up and collected my voice ‘I-I’m sorry Cole… to you and Avery. I can h-honestly say that I have wronged and I can understand if neither of you can forgive me… after all I deserve all that I can get. I think I should get going now. I’ll… uhh, talk to you later and make sure you tell Avery I’m sorry.’ I said weakly as I walked towards the door. I heard a sudden cough from the bathroom as my eyes opened up in shock.

He was hiding somebody there… and I bet I know who it is. But that didn’t mean all that I had said just now was a lie… but of course I didn’t mean it as much as Cole would have preferred. I jus didn’t know how I felt about all of this.

I turned to Cole as I met his startled expression ‘But I’m sure you don’t need to tell Avery anything… I’m sure she heard it for herself.’

Cole Ford’s POV

She turned towards me with a knowing look in her eyes ‘But I’m sure you don’t need to tell Avery anything… I’m sure she heard it herself.’ She said as she turned on her heels and walked out the door; leaving me gaping in the door way.

I was frozen in my spot as my body started to shake with fear. Of course when anything good happened, there was always something negative to follow.

I knew what I had to do. I made my way over to the bathroom where I slowly and hesitantly knocked on the door. I heard a distant sound coming from inside so I turned the handle and poked my head in.

Avery was cross-legged on the ground with her head in the palms of her hands. I could hear her sobbing as I quickly made my way over to her and kneeled beside her; wrapping my arms around her and pulling her to me.

‘What’s wrong?’ I asked, still enclosed around her.

‘Sh-she knows Cole! And she… she is going to tell everybody! I’m going to get kicked out and who knows where you’ll end up!’ she said, momentarily pausing the tears before they came back again.

‘She won’t tell a soul honey. She has too much on the line. Just remember it’s the two of us against her. Remember all of the things she has done and said to you… she has threatened you and I guess she has basically no proof to go on for us.’ I said hesitantly.

Avery hesitated before she spoke; wiping her tears away and turning towards me and standing up. I followed her lead as she walked back into the bedroom and sat at the edge of the bed, looking down at the ground. ‘Cole you don’t get her like I do. You haven’t seen what I have seen. You have simply gone off of what I have told you and I can say you have seen nothing of her real self. I don’t believe for a second that she was telling the truth about all that apologetic crap… I really don’t. I do not care if you forgive her but I can clearly say that bitch is not getting my sympathy nor a singular word ushered of any good natured intentions. And I guess she won’t tell anybody as she will be too afraid to ruin her perfect status. Now please say something… anything to stop my blabber.’ She said the last part looking up at me with a hopeful smile.

I sighed before sitting beside her and putting my hand on her knee. I returned her smile which gave her the all clear. ‘Whatever happens… we’re in it together.’
