Ch: 18

In the forbidden land of Han

Across a red soil and dry place, fierce winds of up to 15mph blew and destroyed everything in its path. The land itself was a mystery, the earthy ground said that this place is a desert but the lush Green forests brought about a contradiction, yet , all in all the place was extremely dangerous.

A sandy cloud could be seen blowing across the lush path between the great forests, ahead of the path was a giant looking worm that burrowed and emerged continuously from the earth. It's head was huge almost the height of a 3 story building and it was rounded with sharp shark like teeth,

"Flank it on the right, Dante, spear! angle 5 o'clock to my left"

"Roger!"

A robust shout could be heard amidst the howling winds, a team of 5 people similar to the size of ants compared to the worm were chasing the giant thing and keeping up with its speed. Upon following orders, the 3 moved to the right of the worm and the one named Dante ran with great agility and after angling the spear he threw it. The through might have seemed light but the tense muscles in his arm and how the spear seemed to break one barrier of sound, it was going for the kill.

The worm was not an easy opponent or it wouldn't take all of them to kill it, the four people one the right were a mixture of three cultivators and one mage. The mage anticipating the escape of the worm strengthened the earth such that the worm couldn't burrow through, the three cultivators two with a great word and one with a huge katana positioned themselves and attacked with precision.

The worm angered that it couldn't travel used its strength to attack the perpetrators, sadly, it could do nothin but die at this point. When it raised its tail to strike the spear directly severed it's tail while the three attacks cleanly sliced it into pieces. It couldn't even let out a cry and it bursted in a splurge of Green and blue blood dying the red earth,

"Fuck! I hate these stupid worms!" 

A shout not of victory was heard,

"Zaire it's all your fault, we clearly said not to blow up the mountain but your fucking nugget brain never got it!. You too are to blame Mateo"

Bai haochen lectured the two who silently sat on their knees, head down not making a single sound. As they listened to the mother hen of the group, Dante was trying to pull out his spear that dug too deep into the earth and Zendrius? Well he was busy sighing while looking at his terminal. He didn't even notice when the other four congregated and just stared at him with eyes of disbelief,

"Are you sure he isn't possessed by a blood siren from the last hunt?"   Dante whispered

"Positive he isn't possessed but he sure is not okay". Bai haochen answered while he looked at the gentle yet wistful face of their leader

"What do you think will happen in the next trip? He's been hunting like crazy just to shorten the years". Mateo asked as he rubbed his chin in a puzzled manner.

" I feel like we'll finish by next year at this rate". Bai haochen answered while sighing and started to pack their gear to continue their long yet seemingly short journey

"Sorry for asking but what's our goal again?" Zaire asked confused and even a bit worried as though he truly had no clue.

"*sigh* Zaire" they all sighed and continued to pack, dissect the worm because as gross as it sounds, it's meat was nutritious and tasty.

Zendirus kept his hand down and looked at the group that pretended not to be whispering about his current state as they busied themselves packing up. He really missed his little plum, his cheeky and mischievous behaviour, how his red eyes seemed to light up when talking about something interesting, how he always shared his bl books with him. Zendrius was determined, now that Jinu completed his maturity phase he will become more beautiful and definitely attract a lot of attention.
