"why are we changing seats? are we little kids or something?" mingyu complained. "and how come i stay in the same seat?" he asked while watching everyone else change seats based on the draw that everyone did.

"your luck is so bad that you can't even change seats," minghao replied as he walked to the back of the classroom.

you had already settled into your new seat and opened one of your notebooks. a few seconds later, someone sat down next to you. that someone was lee dokyeom, someone you've known since you were little, but you two were never in a common circle together.

"hey y/n."

"hey," you greeted with a smile, causing dokyeom to smile back.

mingyu tapped dokyeom's shoulder, causing the latter to look back, "yah, dokyeom. wanna come over and play games?" he asked.

"i can after the meeting for the musical," dokyeom replied.

"i thought you dropped that?" mingyu asked but dokyeom shook his head. "text me when you're on your way. i'll order dinner."

"sounds good," dokyeom replied.

"alright guys. let's get to today's lesson," you homeroom teacher spoke up. you scooted your chair and grabbed your pencil, ready to take notes.

-

"hey, y/n. wanna grab lunch with us?" one of your friends asked as you put a folder away in your backpack.

"yea, sure," you replied and stood up from your seat.

you left the classroom with them and headed to the cafeteria. you grabbed lunch and sat at a table that was only being occupied by you and your friends.

"do you guys like where you sit?" one of your friends asked.

"i'm fine with it. i can look into the hall and see if hoshi walks down the hall," your other friend answered.

"you sound like a stalker," you immediately responded to her answer.

"seriously."

"oh come on, you have a crush on mingyu, and y/n probably likes seokmin," your friend said to both of you and picked up her bottle of water.

you almost did a spit take at her response. "what? i do not. i've barely even talked to him in the years that i've known him," you said to her.

after a few minutes, more people joined the table. you noticed your classmates along with some upper and lower classmates.

"there's your chance to see hoshi," you said to one of your friends as you saw the dance captain take his spot at the end of the table.

"oh shut up," your friend replied. "come on, let's go back," she said while standing up, holding her tray. you stood up and walked away, bringing your tray to the tray return area.

the three of you went back to your classroom and talked for awhile; however, you decided you wanted a snack before you started studying again. you left the classroom and walked down the hall to a vending machine that was in a somewhat of a common area within the school. you started looking through the options in the machine.

"oh, you're getting something too?"

you turned around to see dokyeom, walking towards you with his hands in his pants pockets.

"oh, hey," you greeted. you put money into the machine and made your selection. "yea, i'm gonna need something to last me through study hall today," you said with a laugh. you grabbed the bag of chips before stepping out of the way.

dokyeom made his choice and paid. he grabbed his bag of chips and immediately opened it.

"want one, seat mate?" he asked, holding his bag towards you.

"oh, thanks," you replied and grabbed a chip. you ate it before wiping your hand against your skirt.

"you know, with how long we've known each other, i'm surprised we haven't hung out," dokyeom commented as you two started walking back to the classroom.

"guess we never ran in the same circle," you replied and grabbed another chip from the open bag.

"yea, you're right," he replied. "hey, if you aren't busy, some of the seniors are throwing a party satruday night. you should come," he suddenly offered.

"lee dokyeom inviting me to a party? this is interesting," you said to him and smiled, "yea sure. text me the details," you agreed.

"gonna need your number first."

"that was quick."

"just for you, seat mate."
