vernon - surprise visit

you rang the doorbell and waited to see if anyone would answer. after a minute, the door opened to reveal jun.

"what are you doing here? i thought you were coming back at the end of the week?" he immediately asked, clearly confused.

you shook your head, "nope. flight got in an hour ago."

"welcome back," he said and opened his arms. both of you hugged each other. "vernon isn't here. him and dino went out," he mentioned, helping you bring your suitcase in. "want lunch?" he asked as he pushed your suitcase into the living room, letting it roll by itself before settling in the near the couch.

"were you cooking?" you asked and peeked into the kitchen but didn't see anything being cooked.

"no, but i'm hungry," he said. "dokyeom! are you hungry?" he yelled.

you heard a door open, "yea. are you cooking?" he asked and you saw him walk out of his room. "y/n!" he immediately hurried to you and hugged you.

"hi!" you laughed and hugged him back. "come on, i'll help cook," you said to jun.

after cooking and eating lunch with jun and dk, you went to your boyfriend's room. you managed to find some paper and decided to make a "welcome home" sign for fun. you just wrote "welcome home vernon" on the piece of paper and grabbed another pen to add some color to the paper.

while adding more details to the sign, you heard the front door open and vernon and dino's voices. you put the pen you were using down and turned to face the door. you held the paper up so vernon could see it; however, he didn't come in right away.

did jun or dokyeom not tell him?

you waited a bit more, but just as you were about to stand up, the door opened. your boyfriend took a step in before noticing you.

"woah! y/n!" he noticed the sign in your hand and started laughing.

"hello stranger," you said and put the paper down. vernon closed the door behind him before walking over to you and hugging you tight. "miss me?" you asked, even though you knew the answer.

"what do you think?" he asked and kissed your forehead. "when did you get here?" he asked.

"around two o'clock," you answered.

vernon sat on his bed, picking up your makeshift sign and looking at it. he chuckled.

"you know, i should be the one holding up a "welcome back" sign," he said to you. he pulled the chair you were sitting on closer to him.

"should we redo this so i walk through the door instead of you?" you asked him. both of you laughed.

"you're too cute," he said and leaned in to kiss you. "i'm glad you're back. you were gone for awhile."

"two weeks of exploring and having fun," you replied, "but i'm also glad i'm back home. after all, i get to see the love of my life in person instead of facetime."

"love ya."

"love you more!"
