Lorelei continued to chew on her lip and squinted as her eyes adjusted to the dim lighting. Jesse had a crushing grip on her hand. No windows in the basement club made the Black Crow seem more intimate.

Jody was right, and there was no pounding electronic music. Jazz songs were played by the speakers above as a band set up on the stage. Small tables surrounded by chairs were scattered around the club. A staircase led to a second level of more seating.

A long bar sat along the wall. A bartender, whose sleeves were rolled up, was working behind the counter. Despite being the only bartender, he handled the multiple drink orders expertly. He did stop for a second to wave to Jody. Did she know everyone?

Jesse leaned down to her ear so that only Lorelei could hear his words.

"One drink," he said.

Lorelei rolled her eyes. She yanked her hand, but Jesse did not let go.

"You're being controlling," she said.

"Baby girl, I am serious," he said. "I want to make sure you're okay."

"I'll be alright."

Lorelei let out a deep breath. Jesse pulled her to his body and wrapped his arms tight around her waist. Her moans were not audible over the music. Sinking into his familiar hold, she clenched her thighs together when he bit down on her lip. Jody whistled, and they pulled apart.

"Let's get a drink, Lovebirds," Jody said.

She had a broad smile and her hands on her hips. Lorelei giggled as she walked toward the bar. She leaned against the counter so that the bartender could hear her order.

"Whiskey sour," she said.

He nodded as he prepared her drink. Lorelei jumped when Jesse touched her waist. Slowly, he dragged his hand down until he was grabbing her ass. She glanced at him to see he was surveying the club. Following his gaze, she saw him staring at a group of men across the room. The three men were sitting around a table. They were in suits and had drinks in their hands. Jody noticed Jesse staring and clasped her hands in front of her chest.

"The guys are here," Jody said.

"We should leave," Jesse said.

Jody shook her head before sipping her drink.

"Nope," she said. "I want to talk to them. I haven't seen Atlas in years."

"We're not talking to Atlas," Jesse snapped.

Lorelei's eyes widened. She looked back at the three men and tried to deduce which was Atlas.

One of the men looked over at Jesse. Tattoos were peeking out from the collar and sleeves of his dark suit. His eyes were dark, and there was a piercing through his brow. A smirk grew across his face.

"He saw you," Jody said in a taunting voice. "I think we should go."

"This is not going to end well," Jesse said.

"You are both in your thirties now," she said. "You've matured. Leave the past in the past."

"I will, but I doubt he is going to."

Lorelei picked her glass up from the counter. She took a drink before looking back at Atlas. He was no longer looking at Jesse but instead was staring at Lorelei. Heat rushed to her cheeks from his intense stare. He waved his hand, motioning for them to come over.

"Let's go," Jody said.

She grabbed Jesse's arm. He groaned as he followed her over to the table. He kept his arm tight around Lorelei. Her heart fluttered as Atlas's eyes were locked on her body.
