Lorelei tried to ignore Jesse's scowling when she ordered a second drink. He poured her another glass of water and held it out. Lorelei sighed as she grabbed the glass and took a sip. Daniel and Ken were too deep in discussion to notice.

"So when are you seeing your Mom?" Daniel asked Jesse. "Did Christina get herself into a mess again?"

Jesse let out a deep breath and tension seeped into his muscles. Lorelei chewed on a piece of bread as she watched Jesse. He had never mentioned much about his mother. All Lorelei knew was that she was an alcoholic and a hoarder. He rarely mentioned her and Lorelei did not know how to ask about his mother. Lorelei would hate it if Jesse questioned her about her own mother.

"I feel like I keep getting her place clean and she lets it go to shit within a couple of months," Jesse said. "It's an endless cycle."

"Is she sober?" Daniel asked.

"I doubt it," he said.

Jesse had taken his hand off Lorelei's thigh when their food arrived. Now, she could feel Jesse's knee bouncing next to her. She reached under the table and ran her hand on his leg. The last few days were the most anxious she had ever seen Jesse.

"I told her to get help last time I was down," he said. "She denies having a problem."

"You can't save her every time," Daniel said.

"I can try."

"You're going to burn yourself out."

"That's not going to happen."

"It already has. Many times."

Lorelei curled her fingers into Jesse's leg when she watched his jaw harden. She looked over at Ken and could see him chewing on his bottom lip. She needed to change the topic.

"What do you do for work, Ken?" she asked.

"Insurance," he said. His eyes darted between Jesse and Daniel glaring at each other. "I sell insurance."

"That's great," Lorelei said, she snuck a glance at Jesse's stern expression. "I'm an ICU nurse."

Jesse's knee continued to bounce. Daniel opened his mouth to say something and Jesse held his hand out to silence him.

"I don't want to hear it," Jesse said.

"So how do you like selling insurance, Ken?" Lorelei asked, desperate to get onto a new topic.

"It's a good gig," Ken said.

Daniel leaned back and put his arm around the back of Ken's chair. He flashed a smile.

"Lorelei, if you have not noticed yet Christina is a sensitive topic of discussion," Daniel said.

"Let's move onto something else," Jesse said

Daniel and Ken looked at each other and smiled.

"We're getting married Saturday," Daniel said.

"You?" Jesse asked. "The guy that won't watch a television show that has more than four seasons is going to get married?"

"What is that supposed to mean?"

"You can never commit to anything."

Daniel's smile did not waver.

"When it's love, you know," he said.

"That's so sweet," Lorelei said.

"Thank you."

Daniel pulled Ken in close and kissed his cheek. Lorelei took her hand off of Jesse's leg now that his knee had stopped bouncing. She picked a fry off of her plate.

"Do we get to go to the wedding?" Jesse asked.

"It's going to be a super small gathering," Daniel said.

"And your best friend doesn't get an invite?"

Lorelei sucked in her bottom lip as she thought about the last wedding that they went to. He punched Bryan at Molly's, and it landed him in jail. Not just in jail, but covered in bruises from the cops.

"You can come," Daniel said. "We didn't know you'd be down."

"Please, come," Ken said.

Jesse smiled. "Of course, we'll be there."

--

Lorelei threw back her head and giggled as Jesse wrapped his arms around her and kissed her neck while they walked into the hotel room. Jesse ran his hands down her body and slipped under her dress. Goosebumps broke out across Lorelei's skin when his fingers grazed along the waistband of her thong. Jesse kissed her neck, his lips trailing to her throat.

"I've been wanting to take this dress off of you all night," he said.

Lorelei pulled Jesse's hands away, and the skirt of her dress fell back down. She spun around in his hold and put her hands on his chest. Jesse leaned down to kiss her and she pulled away. He raised a brow.

"What was that with Daniel?" she asked.

"What are you talking about?" he asked.

"Ken and I definitely felt the tension at that table."

Jesse sighed and broke eye contact with Lorelei.

"I don't like people talking about my Mom," he said. "Even my best friends."

"That's why you have never talked about her with me?" she asked.

"Lorelei." Jesse's voice grew stern. "I was just about to fuck you and now you're asking me about my trauma?"

She bit down on her lip. She hated talking about her own mother. It was a soft spot. She had to have an understanding of Jesse's situation.

"I'm sorry," she said.

Jesse smirked as he took a handful of her ass.

"You're forgiven," he said. "Now take off your dress and get on the bed."

Lorelei flashed him a smile before she reached for the hem of her dress. She pulled it over her head as she walked toward the bed. Her hands cupped her bare breasts. She twirled and winked before lying on the bed.

Jesse's smile had not disappeared as he pulled his shirt over his head. She tilted her head to the side as she watched him go to his suitcase instead of coming over to the bed. He pulled something out of the bag, but she could not see what it was.

"Turn around," he said. "On your hands and knees."

"What are you planning?" she asked.

He held the sex toy out in his palm. There was the red jewel at the end. Lorelei's breath caught in her throat when she realized it was the butt plug. The last time he had it in her ass was before Molly's wedding. Despite it being an odd sensation, she did enjoy it.

"Are you okay with that?" Jesse asked, noticing the hesitation on Lorelei's face.

She swallowed past the lump forming in her throat. She nodded.

"Yes," she said.

"Turn around then," he said.

Lorelei pulled her thong off before getting on her hands and knees. She curled her fingers into the sheets. She jumped when Jesse put his hand on her lower back. He ran his hand up her spine and goosebumps broke out across her skin.

"You need to relax," he said. "If you don't want to do this just tell me."

Lorelei let out a shaky breath. The thought made her a bit nervous, but she loved pushing herself when it came to Jesse. He brought her pleasure that she did not know was possible. She wanted to push her body to its limits to experience as much as she could.

"I want to," she said.

"Good." He trailed his fingers down her back before slapping her ass. "Up in the air."

Lorelei smiled as she raised her bum. She breathed deeply as she attempted to calm her pounding heart.
