"Wait now, until we get home."

"I want to know now."

"Mihrimah, be patient please. We're almost there."

———

We soon reached his place. After giving me water to drink and laying me in bed, he sat opposite to me.

"Yes?" I urged impatiently. The curiosity was killing me. I needed to know the truth.

He took a deep breath. "I'll tell you what I know. Caleb Greene was your father's biggest rival, doing everything in his will to bring AB Enterprises down. He was running a prostitution ring, and according to what I've been told, your parents brought that to light. How? I don't know. But apparently, Caleb was using that money to indirectly harm AB Enterprises and try and take control of the corporation."

I listened with my mouth open.

"You mentioned something about a prostitution ring to me, remember?" He said.

I nodded my head slowly. "I don't know what happened. I just know that mom was pregnant with me then, and that she doesn't like talking about it."

He nodded.

"Wait, so if Caleb's illegal business was brought to light by my parents, then he must have been sentenced to death or something, no?" I questioned.

"Yes. And maybe that's what Ezra meant when he said your parents killed his father. That's why he hates you."

I ran a hand over my face, sighing.

"Maybe you should talk to your parents about this." He said, and my eyes widened.

"No way! I told you I'm not involving them! As long as Ezra's target is me and not them, I don't want them to know anything." I argued.

"Maybe ask them about the whole thing?" He suggested.

"There's no need. We have it figured out. He wants revenge for his father's death." I affirmed.

He sighed. "Fine. I'll run you a bath."

He stood up, but I caught his hand. "You said Ezra might be running a prostitution ring too."

He paused for a minute before replying. "He is. I'm sure now."

"Why aren't we exposing him then?" I inquired.

"Because we don't know the location where that stuff happens, primarily." He replied.

"Then find out."

"I'm on it." He assured.

"Is he doing all of it by himself?"

"Initially, no. Now, probably." He answered.

"Who was his partner?" I asked curiously.

He eyed me carefully before answering. "Zayn Woods."

I frowned in confusion. "That's my last name."

The way he looked at me was confusing, as if he was hiding something, contemplating on whether to share it with me or not.

"You don't own the surname, sunshine. Other people can have it too." He said, giving my hand a squeeze.

"Are you hiding something from me?" I asked, searching his hazel orbs.

"No." He answered.

"Where's Zayn Woods now?" I wondered.

"In the grave." He replied.

My mouth formed on O. "So, what we need to do now is to expose Ezra's business and get rid of him?"

"As easy as that sounds." He smirked.
