Chapter 2: The Emperor and Empress.

Start from the beginning

With the current ruler- the emperor, helping the troops and military preparing the war with the demons.

The court is busy thinking of ways where they will survive for eleven months of harsh winter, trading with the other countries for ores for grain to other kingdoms.

The emperor, neglecting his duties at the palace and his own wife as well as child in order for the kingdom to be safe from the grasps of the demons who seek war.

Five months pregnant, the empress of the kingdom began feeling excited about holding her child, watching the baby grow up and become the next ruler of their kingdom.

She was the kindest empress the whole kingdom has ever known.

She often sneaks out to the city with guards and maids in tow, at times with permission from the emperor and sometimes not.

The Empress helps the poor around the city and as much donates to churches and orphanages.

Overlooking the children's education even if they did not come from royalty she established a public academy where one can learn how to read and write.

And if one is blessed with magic talent they train them in hopes they might be interested in being a part of the Royal guards or knights.

She has also helped the council on the construction of public buildings, famine problems and giving adventurers a nice time even if it's all winter around them.

The kingdom has greatly prospered gravely all because of her and the whole kingdom is excited about the new princess and surely how she will be like her own mother.

Kind, sweet and gentle.

However, on the day of her giving birth to the new princess.

She died.

It was unknown there was a traitor amongst the maids.

Giving poison to her dear majesty in her drink suffering a weak body.

She was diagnosed with maternal death after birth. Bribing the kingdom doctor and mage to hide the poisoning.

When the message reached the emperor of the death of her wife, he was devastated and angry at the heavens for what they did. Taking away his beloved when they just had a child he wished to be with his empress.

He just used this anger to fuel his rage at war.

The whole kingdom was depressed with the news.

They worshiped the Empress even at her burial... having the momentum and hearing the last wish of the queen in the letter to the people of the kingdom.

The Empress knew that she was getting sick and her chances of survival might not be high so she wrote a letter and gave it to someone she trusts.

Requesting to spread it to the people of the kingdom.

To which it contained;

My dear friends and citizens,

I wish you will not weep not at my death and please smile for a new princess is born. I will not need the tears and mourning for it will not bring me back from the grave. My princess and your future ruler will look after you and the whole kingdom. I just hope my Dearest Alastor won't mind that I'm giving him the diaper changing job instead of me.

Everyone laughed and giggled while even having tears in their eyes.

I know I won't last long so I gave this letter to my trusted council and I'll be leaving you to my little one's care, please also take care of her and your dearest emperor and my husband Alastor.

After the message, everyone fell into silence as everyone just couldn't help but cry their eyes out. She really was the greatest Empress the kingdom has ever gotten.

The palace has made it its task to always keep the princess safe.

They plan to always keep her guard at all times and not let her out of the palace.

While the people may have agreed with how they should keep the princess safe, however, they must also let her have fun and free just like the late Empress who casually visits the city and has made quite a lot of friends even if they weren't titled as nobility.

Everyone liked her because she wasn't like any noble who looks down on commoners but someone who treats them with respect.

The people hoped that the council would treat the princess right.
